Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

Ok, this might be my last post because this is turning into something ugly in here and everywhere else.

1- Our family is not shady and does not treat with shady people, honesty is one thing our parents taught and continue to teach us everyday. We never asked for a Cent (even in canadian dollars) from anyone. It is a blessing for us to have two kids going to college for free and we are immensely grateful for that...

2- just because some agent or any other individual writes on cyrus's wall on facebook, it does not mean that the kouandjio's fam is affiliated w/ him... cyrus has more than 4k "friends" on FB (which is way too much i must admit) and he's not in control of what they write on his wall.

3- Our father was not quoted right today. He never "asked" cyrus to play somewhere. We are a family and people in family help each other, especially a 17yr old who's about to make a major life changing decision. We discussed this as a family but never forced cyrus to go somewhere he didn't wanna go to. The final decision has always been cyrus'. We as a family only gave him the tools to make an intelligent decision.... we just acted like a typical american family seeing their child go to college. we discuss with the kid, we let him pick, and we send him away with all our love and blessings.

4- Again this was not supposed to be a circus, but it just happened to turn out this way. i'm personally very proud of cyrus. Some people say that if he can handle the pressure of signing day, how could he handle the pressure in an SEC game... well i think he handled the pressure very well. Another kid could've signed those papers without being 100% sure that that's what they really wanted to do and regret it later in their alone moments, but he had the courage to tell the world that "hey, i probably made a mistake and i need more time". I think that speaks character.

5- I didn't spell check this

Good point. Sounds like someone has offended you. Sorry. FWIW, I think Cyrus, Arie, and the whole family is an upstanding American family. It was a little bit of a surprise for everyone it sounds like. I think when they lay down the facts and get logical again, Cyrus will feel better about his decision. The spell of just getting back from the AU visit was still lingering. Roll TIde Cy!!

I know this won't happen because the lure of the neon lights and attention blind people most of the time. But I hope other recruits and their families see situations like this and learn a lesson.

I hate that your family is going through this. So much silliness being thrown out without any foundation. I too feel that Cyrus has shown to be able to handle the situation as well as any 17-18 year old could. I have mentioned on here a couple of times how I too was affected by making a life changing decision about joining the Navy or going to Alabama at his age and I didn't have millions of people hanging on my every word.
I commend you and your family for being above board and wish that Cyrus makes the best decision for him. It is his life that he has to plan for and not a bunch of rabid fans.

that said after mb's post i feel the writing is on the wall for him to sign with the enemy.

just so you know mb its a heated rivalry, brought on by genuine hatred. Thats just how it is. Im sorry your family has gotten involved with it, but thats how it is, unfortunately.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I know nothing about CK, but I feel for him, and his family. No one is equipped to deal with this much intense pressure, at his age. (We all were at one time: remember how we handled much simpler decisions?)

The decision he will make will not only have serious implications, for the next 3-4 years, but very likely, far into his adult life. The thought there may be adults, of dubious character, with nefarious motives, able to play mind games, with a high school kid, really makes me sick.

At this point, I would not blame him if he put up a map of the US, blind-folded himself, and flung a dart at it, and said "There.............that is where I am going."

He will probably make just as many enemies. But his life may be simpler.

I'm sure we all wish him well, whatever his decision. I just hope for his sake it is the right one.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I haven't been able to follow much of this stuff the past two days due to work but I hate to think that we will lose CK to awbarn. He's an extremely talented OL and I would've loved to see him wearing a UA uniform on the line with his brother. I hope that UA fans haven't been too harsh in this scenerio and hopefully he could change his mind. MB, all I can say is from what I've seen but we ain't mad at ya and you're more than welcome to continue commenting even if CK goes to the bad guys. I still respect the way the Kouandijo family has handle the entire recruiting process that has been going on for over 4 years now if you count Arie and Cyrus' recruiting back to back. Very well put together family

You got that right and unfortunately it appears his family is going to have to endure what comes along with that rivalry for the next three to four years.

Does this mean we can get back to us planning our presser? Think anyone will watch?

I really hate it if something that has been said in here offended you or any member of your family. When I read your post, I ventured back about ten pages on the thread to see what might have been insulting, and truthfully, didn't find anything. A lot of people believe that Auburn's coaches have been acting unethically in their recruiting practices, but I don't think that their disreputable actions have anything to do with the kids on whom they practice them. The recruits are the victims, not the perpetrators.

I hope your brother makes a decision that works out for him. I figure that the major downside of committing to the other bunch is that he very likely will never, ever again, have the chance to play on the same team with his big brother. That said, good luck to you, to Arie, and to Cyrus. I have enjoyed reading your posts, and hope that you will stick around here.

No matter where he goes i hope he does great. Individual success not team if its the barn. Most know that yall come from a strong family and it did take a lot of courage to do what he thinks is right and make a decision best for him if he isn't 100%. People are upset at how the coach is handling and speaking. The coach makes it seem like he is pushing him which may not be the case. RTR and tell cyrus the bama nation loves him.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I think the only reason I'm upset with this is because all I have heard since Arie committed is that Cyrus wanted to come to Bama more that Arie did. I thought he was a lock, and then Auburn comes into the mix out of nowhere. I didn't think I could hate Auburn anymore than I already did, but I guess I was wrong.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I am speaking on behalf of myself but I would have given anything to play on the same team, athlethically, as my brother. I wish Cyrus felt the same way. There are times I was tired of being in my brother shadow (he was a heckuva baseball player, btw) but I also knew how good he was and it would have been special to play with my brother. Cyrus has got to do what he's to do, but I am hoping he is going to Auburn for the right reasons. (I am not implying anything about the character of Cyrus.
