"The defense must be rebuilt — and that’s not a problem. My confidence in Saban’s ability to put forth a dominant attack knows no bounds, to the point where I don’t believe it’s out of the question that this new group, one breaking in nine new starters, can be as good as last year’s version. Not that it will: the Tide will struggle finding a replacement for Terrence Cody at nose tackle, and must identify a handful of new starters in the secondary.
The best news up front: Marcell Dareus will suit up for the season opener — and every game the rest of the way — after an N.C.A.A. investigation placed his 2010 future in doubt. Now that he’s ready to go, let the superlatives roll in. "

not sure how accurate this is.....but i hope it is 100% true!!!!:biggrin2:

Either they have the most ridiculous sources of all time, or they're trying to jump the gun and get some page hits. When the news breaks, I promise we'll all know.

Thats kinda the nice thing about being the preeminent college football program... you watch espn and if a Bama player sneezes its on the ticker.

Come on, really? I think that's a good approach to take. When a player goes down you assume they are out for the season. No matter what the season goes on. In this case we have a good feeling that Ingram isn't out for the season. Otherwise you end up living in the world of "if only", "could have" or "we had them until...". Like all the people that live around me here in Dallas. : )

His report on Marcel was not accurate and he states as much in response to once of the comments...

"Yes, the Dareus info made me oh so happy this morning. Too bad it seems to be made up! Are you on some sort of NCAA committee, Mr. Myerberg? I sure hope so.

RTR!

Paul: This was a big error on my part. Should not have phrased it like that. Here’s how I originally wrote it:

The best news up front: Marcell Dareus will suit up for the season opener — and every game the rest of the way — after an N.C.A.A. investigation placed his 2010 future in doubt.

This is how I just rephrased it:

The best news up front: Marcell Dareus will be ready to go for the season opener — and every game the rest of the way — after putting together a very solid fall camp despite the lingering specter of a potential N.C.A.A.-mandated suspension. Now that he’s running with the top team on the depth chart, let the superlatives roll in.

Poor phrasing on my part: I shouldn’t have made such a leap based on my own suspicions, which made it sound like rock-solid guarantee that Dareus won’t miss the S.J.S.U. game. The original phrase made it sound as if I was 100 percent certain he wouldn’t miss a game. I don’t know that, though I have my feelings about the matter. The second phrase indicates that Dareus had a very good fall camp, is running with the top line and that Alabama is planning to have him available on Saturday, from all accounts."

Re: Dareus won't sit out a game???

The article never says he will actually play. Yes, it does mislead you by saying that hes going to "suit up", but just because you wear the uniform doesnt mean you'll play. And he can "be ready" all he wants to be, but hes not playing.

Obviously he doesnt want you to realize these things. He wants his article to get attention. And the way its worded, hes given himself just enough wiggle room. You gotta understand how these idiot sports bloggers think.

Re: Dareus won't sit out a game???

Since when is healthy skepticism a sign of being a barner?!
There is a big difference in healthy skepticism and downright negative thinking.

But then, A barner would view both situations ( Dareus AND Ingram ) as positives and proceed to punish that poor tree yet again.

I believe that we will see Dareus play Saturday evening and Ingram out until the Arky game. I'm sure that he will do all that he can to play in the PSU game...I just think that the doc's will not give him the all clear to do so until the Arky game week. And perhaps that is for the best.

BamainBoston has never really said anything in the past (or even now) that would warrant a mooo. Plus, he had a winky face on his comment.

Dareus WILL sit until the NCAA rules on it - no way we risk otherwise.

That being said, I think he plays Sat night.

Hope you're right, although I don't think it'll matter on Sat (except for stats for him for post-season awards). Blogs are the new thorn in my side with sports; anyone can say anything and get away with it.
