DE/LB Montez Robinson told Rivals.com today in a premium article that Auburn is now his leader. He said he has always wanted to play for AU and he should be commiting to Auburn within the next 2 weeks.

In other news, sources close to Nico Johnson said he is likely to pull the trigger this week after his announcement last week was postponed due to his mother being put in the hospital. Word is Saban is putting the heat on a few guys to jump on while you can.

I hate to lose Robinson to Auburn, but if he is a fan I understand. You can't win them all.

As far as Nico goes, I hope that the pressure isn't a negative thing in his mind. It seems there was a post previously stating that he didn't care for the pressure.

I read the Rivals article with that Robinson info. I hate to hear it but it looks like from the quotes he has his mind already made up. That is the first time I have heard him say he was an Auburn fan growing up.

I don't know how this actually works (maybe a mod can clue me in) but it seems to me that the better we do the more players, some of which are pretty darn good, want on board which puts pressure on the coaching staff who, due to limited scholarships have to tell them to hold off.

This may be producing a situation in which we are creating anxiety or even bad blood in players that would be essential to the class if players above them on the list (like Nico) didn't sign. So, there may be a lot of pressure on both sides.

:BigA: RTR!

I can see that also. Actually I was thinking that a strong commitment after such a big win over Clemson would be an excellent way to keep the momentum rolling.

It happens (see Antoine McClain last year). But this is not the situation with Nico. Saban is not going to squeeze the guys at the top of our list, but moreso the ones who are ones we want, but not "must haves."

The Nico situation is a little different and I won't get into specifics out of respect to the source. But Nico is not being given any negative pressure.

And a well timed commitment can get the ball rolling on a few guys that might be on the fence.

NEWSFLASH! Montez Robinson has changed his mind about naming Auburn his favorite. He says that Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia are now all even, he does not have a favorite.

The latest is that Montez Robinson is now saying that Alabama, Auburn and Georgia are all even again and he is going to officially visit all three schools before making his decision. Alabama recruiter Bobby Williams has talked with Robinson and he now says he is going to visit Alabama in December. So from his latest statements Bama is back in the running for his signature and he won't be making any decision anytime soon.

That comes as a surprise.

I still think MR is still somewhat of a Barn lean...but it sounds like we're not gonna give up on him easily. Very good news...it'll be interesting to see how it plays out...I'll consider it as a pleasant suprise if he ends up committing to us.

I think I read sometime that CNS told Robinson that he wanted him to wait until after the season to visit 'Bama in order to spend more time with the players and coaches, which is not always easy when visiting during the season.
