I don't understand the criticism. It was a short Q&A.

He said we fell short of our championship expectations.
No matter your record you always want to self scout and critique your performance.
Happy with what the staff and players are doing already.
Busy recruiting now but look forward to spending more time with the team soon.

Seems like good, normal, comments from a coach.
I don’t think anyone means it to be harsh criticism.

For me anyway he just says a whole lot of words without really telling you anything new or insightful.

As long as he wins it’s meaningless anyway.

I see lots of people grumbling about what he says and how he says it.

I really don't get it.

What would he need to say that would make people happy?

Do people have to complain about everything all the time?
maybe if he said aight more?

Some people just like to complain and will never be satisfied. Also he isn't Saban, so alot of fans will hate everything he says.

But he actually did make a few points which I rewrote for those that didn't listen in this one answer in an interview. It was normal coach-speak. Oh well, people have their minds made up regardless of what is actually said.

He arrived here and stepped into Saban's world. These were Sabans players who had a certain identity and expectation. They came just a whisper from another Natty in 23 so they were going to show the world. The season plays out and the end result is in the books and the truth is revealed. They were mostly talk and were no where near good enough to compete for a natty. Even worse they weren't good enough to beat a Michigan team playing a bunch of backups. So all this "We are Bama" crap and "Lank" is just hot air. It's the sort of talk you hear from losing teams.

Now that we've cleared all that up and since this was probably the worst football team since at least 2007 and that was likely because the NCAA suspended a bunch of starters in 2007 for selling their textbooks. Possibly now the players will stop thinking they know how to win and start searching with their coaches to learn how to win. If you don't find the bottom you're never going to start the journey back up.

I'm tired of youtube video's and cute sayings. I want to see something that's real and that is only on the grass.

Fans got used to Nick's press conferences being a tool to communicate real information to the players. So the fan felt "included" because what was being said was real and meaningful information. Compared to now, it is obvious that 99% of what comes out of DeBoer's mouth is so vague and generic the fan can't get anything from it. The fan really doesn't have much insight as to where the team is or what's going on.

It boils down to Nick spoiled the crap out of the fans and now they're just realizing it. Again, winning covers a multitude of sins and if he wins all of this won't matter a hill of beans. But if he doesn't...

We lost the greatest coach to ever do it at the college level, and one who was a master at pretty much every aspect of the job from on the field to off the field to the media etc.

When my dad passed away several years ago my mom was gutted because they'd been together for nearly 70 years. We've talked on more than one occasion that losing him wouldn't have been so hard had he been a bum of a husband and loser of a father. But he was the finest human being I've ever known and I'll probably never encounter another person in my life that can match how great he was for me and my family.

Although he didn't die, losing Saban was sort of the same in terms of knowing that we'll never see another one like him in our lifetimes.

Judging any coach against Saban is unfair to the coach and unfair to us.

I fully agree, but it's human nature and sometimes human nature is tough to fight. I'm really rooting for DeBoer and hoping this doesn't turn sour for him. I'd like him to be good enough to be here for 10+ years.

I'm not complaining about what he says or how he says it. I just want to see it on the field, so I will reserve judgment until autumn and see what he puts out there.

Seriously? He gives the worst press conferences since Orgeron.
I wouldn't know because I don't watch press conferences, but I would guess this wasn't a press conference by just looking at the video lead in. If he said what someone else mentioned, I would agree with him and hope he gets it corrected. Roll Tide!
