Depth chart released

So he's admitting that a guy that is in his RS Junior season and has played in mop-up duty at Bama would start Auburn? He is rational.

He actually was concerned about the OL and the QB at Auburn. Said the offense would be as bad as last year and then the defense would be better. Somehow that equated to 9-4. I figure that is decently rational for an Aub. I decided to cut the conversation short, I enjoy living in South Carolina where I don't see them.

I had an Auburn fan ask me if Tana Patrick was going to play this year. He said it like it was some sort of diss. I was like I think he'll play some. He then said he could be starting at Auburn. I just laughed. This guy was actually pretty rational, for an Aub, but somehow the fact Patrick hasn't started yet still bothers him.

Someone with better computer skills should make the depth chart with stars for the players next to it haha.

Patrick is in the playing rotation this year, and will see some meaningful snaps. He's been surrounded by a lot of talent since he arrived, and honestly he was just kind of slow to stand out. Looks like he's starting to come around now as an upperclassman.

And yes he would start for Auburn at linebacker. Just like anybody else with a pulse. Not sure how that is a dig at 'Bama or Patrick. If your buddy thought that it was, well, he's kind of showcasing a few Auburn stereotypes.

...Are you referring to the few mistakes he made as a true freshman???

He was pretty darn good that year IMO, and should be exceptional now that he has experience.
...playing time builds confidence; thats all he needed.

The physical tools are there but I agree...now that he has more experience under his belt he should be solid. Let's all hope so anyway.

This is the best I could do right now. If the player was rated by the recruiting services at a different position (and I noticed it), I put the position in parentheses. The rankings are according to Rivals.

I'm kinda suprised at the number of 3 stars on the Oline, but just goes to show you our coaches actually evaluate and recruit and don't just go down a list. I'm counting 9 5*s on the 2 deep, Although I coulda sworn Ragland was a 5 star, so 10 if you count him. I remember when we had no 5*s on the roster. I'm loving this depth.

I meant to post a breakdown but was unable to because of work. Looking at the lists, I count 8 - 5*, 29 - 4* and 14 - 3*. Like you, I thought Reggie was a 5*, but Rivals has him as a 4*.

lol what a problem to have. Do we have 8 or 9 or 10 5*s?

I wonder if this release is just a ploy by Saban to teach reporters that depth charts don't mean anything. There were a lot of surprises for me. Lots of players at different positions than I thought were practicing at. Vogler had been practicing at H'back all spring and fall practice. Now, he is suddenly back at TE? I thought he fit TE better anyway, but just a big change. I think lots of these players will be used interchangeably. Especially on defense. I pegged Devall as a MIke or Will. Hard to believe he beat out Ryan Anderson after Ryan had a spring to get ahead. I expect Hubbard to play a little Jack in passing situations like Hightower did the past few years. He is our best rusher.

Seemed like a lot of Co-starters/backups as well. Seemed like a way to show people that all of these guys will be ready to play on Saturday if needed.

I would not think coach saban's into playing mind games with his own players. They see the depth chart. Hopefully what we are seeing are the players that have earned their spot.
