I was listening to WJOX via the internet yesterday and some idiot (supposedly a Bama grad) who was on with Finebaum, was berrating the Bama fans for turning out for the SEC media days saying it should be a "media only" event. His lack of understanding was only outpaced by his overt arrogance. May be he was only trying to generate some response as his radio style was sadly lacking. While he may have had media credentials, he certainly did not act in a professional manner.

Who is this Finebaum person?

That guy said he "attended" Bama; never said whether or not he graduated!!! He was a class A, number one idiot!!!!!!!!

The guy said he was from Houston, and I agree that his demeanor and attitude didn't match the credentials he claimed to possess. It was probably a barner trying to fake it. :rolleye2: ;)

Yeah, I heard that. He was subbing for Finebaum, who was on his way to a speaking engagement.

Longshore also dogged Bama fans for turning up en masse at A-Day, as well as some other stuff. He came across as completely clueless. It's kind of scary that someone that poorly informed could host a sports talk show.

More importantly, that he graduated from Bama.

I believe (after being interrogated by a caller) he said that he attended the University but did not graduate.

I'll confess to listening to Finebaum for its entertainment value and will usually keep the show running while I'm at work, but I had to completely turn it off yesterday. Longshore's arrogance was a little much to stomach. While I understand his reasoning for agitating the Alabama fans (he was just trying to make a splash for the afternoon), I could only take so much of his "holier than most of the media here" approach. He just couldn't understand why there needed to be 800 media credentials and it came across as though he felt like it should be limited to an exclusive group (including himself). The thing is, I don't think this was an act. I think he really takes himself that seriously. However, I had never heard of him before yesterday and based off of my one afternoon, I was very unimpressed.

Listening to some of the "talent" on the airwaves in this state makes me wonder if I gave up on the sports journalist dream a little too easily...

The SEC knows exactly what they're doing by hosting Media Days where they do. Sure... it's a "media event", but nothing can stop the general public from attending... thus adding to the level of hype around the event. Most other Media Days are boring affairs where few people want to attend. The SEC has made this thing into an anticipated event that really does mark the final push to the start of the season.

I listen to PF for entertianment - I don't think he really has much info. The fellow yesterday was blantantly obvious in trying to get callers to call in

I wished when David Lamb was on that NO ONE would call in, period.

I swiched the channel yesterday & Snake was on - Is he on everyday that time..?

Yeah, Snake and Chris Stewart do a show on 960 (Carried by 1420 in Tuscaloosa as well) during the time Finebaum and Dunaway and Brown are on. Personally, I stick with Dunaway and Brown as they are easily the best sports talk show in the area.

PF show is a magnet for idiots. Both Bama fans and Awburn fans. It is a blackeye for the south in general.

Amen to that. His show thrives on controversy, not true sports topics. He takes whatever he thinks will get people riled up and runs with it. Then he gets lots of angry callers, which translates to his advertisers as listeners.

Thank God for Sirius satellite radio. It's been two years now since my "exorcism" from the brainless banter that Birmingham Sports Talk radio has become, and I've never been happier in my car. I would recommend it for everyone (and no, I don't get a commission or own their stock). I would also suggest that everyone boycott any advertiser to the PF show and put him off the air for good. He is what I call an "oxygen thief". I have friends that call me daily to say "did you just hear that idiot who called Finebaum saying.......". And I always reply......no.

Heck whats the big deal...

If it was in Atlanta - Georgia fans would hang out
New Orleans - LSU fans
Jacksonville - Gators

.....................Wedowee? - Auburn fans?

Sorry bad attempt at humor...

Cant wait until Sept 1!

He's not an idiot.:conf2:
He is a Bama grad and a big Bama fan, his name is John Longshore and he hosts a talk show in Montgomery. Now his co-host is an idiot, Barry Mcknight, and he hates Alabama. Below is his bio.

he coulda fooled me!! In fact, I can't really tell the difference between he and David Lamb. If he is such a Bama fan, what was he trying to do, pacify the Agburn family!

I heard that yesterday. I live in the Montgomery area and listen to Longshore most mornings. He's a huge Bama homer, goes to all the games, rips on Auburn, and generally proclaims Bama's dominance. Over the past few months though, he has criticized Bama fans for their Saban worship, the 92,000 at A Day, and now this. He was not just trying to make a splash because he says the same things on his morning show in Montgomery. I really think that he tries to be objective and is calling the Bama Nation to get excited when Bama wins something instead of worshipping Saban before anything happens. At least that seems to be what he is saying.

Barry McKnight is the Auburn fan and they go at it just about everyday. It is MUCH better than Finebaum becuase they actually talk about sports and are a lot more fair. Sorry to disappoint, but Longshore is NOT an idiot. He knows exactly what he is doing and has a great deal of sports/football knowledge.
