Did SOS release a statement late last night?

I think that Spurrier will be the next coach at Alabama. It's just a hunch, but....

I know this, it would be alot easier for Spurrier to make life miserable for Meyer, machen, and Foley at Alabama than it will be at USC. They don't play every year...unless it's in Atlanta.

Oh yeah, there's no doubt that he is in Junior's head. I was at the USC game this year and was completely out coached...again.

At Alabama, Steve could spoil their plans to dominate the conference again (I have reservations about Florida, running the chinese-fire-drill being able to do that), not just embarass them occasionally.

I think it would be great...better than our battles during the 90's.

A couple of responses to this point:
  • He has an ego. He just might be visualizing a bronze statue of himself next to a statue of Bear Bryant.
  • He only has one NC, and no undefeated seasons.
  • If we only have him ten years, that's still more than our last three coaches combined.
Nothing here I can see to argue with, especially point #1 & 3.

Well Steve Spurrier said himself the 'rumor' would die down in 2 or 3 days..... Well it looks like it's picking up steam to me...... I believe he must address the USC faithful and let them know emphatically that he is not interested IF in fact this is the case. I'm not sure how it fizzled out at Miami, but this one's not fizzling one bit.

My understanding as well is that Spurrier has declined. Has anyone heard that Cutcliff is interviewing for the job? Alot of Tennessee fans around here are scared to death. RTR :BigA:

Miami was put to rest because he said " I am NOT going to Miami" which of course doesnt mean doo doo but he did emphatically say it about them.

I have no doubt that Steve Spurrier is talking to us, and I have reason to believe he is demanding a very high level of control over the program. If certain of our BOT and administration can agree to relinquish control over certain aspects of our program, Steve Spurrier will be in Tuscaloosa.

Tell them to relax, if only for a brief time, because I, personally, would be shocked if he were even in consideration. Then tell them to rest up, 'cause if CSS is hired, the heart attack rate in tenertop will quadruple!! ;) :biggrin2:

Would be a landmark decision, if true.

Methinks the way you thinks...... And we would be idiotic not to oblige, but we don't always have the sharp ones out front doing the talking...

Give him a subscription to ESPN the magazine and...... yes the MP3 player!

If I rember correctly one of the perks to SS's being at SC is, SC got him at membership @ Augusta Golf. Think about that, if you were his age and liked to play golf as much as he does wouldn't that come into play??

Why wouldn't he just retire there like he said?

I would like to see him here b/c of JPW but I just don't see it happening.

ROLL TIDE

USC cannot give out memberships to Augusta. It is a private club.
