Robertus sent me this a few days ago. If you recall, I mentioned how UA ranks among the best colleges in the nation in many categories. Here is the latest research Robertus has come up with.
Enjoy...and Roll Tide!!!
We've all heard the saying, "There's strength in numbers". One thing that wise saying omits is that the "numbers" should be pulling in the "same direction". Every good family has its problems from time to time, but when its members rise-up and support "the cause", it always prevails.
Well, for members of The University of Alabama family, the "cause" is upon us. This September, The University of Alabama will begin a "campaign" to vault this
university into the very top-echelon of public universities in the nation. Its time for us to ALL pull in the same direction to "get this job Done"!!!
In the meantime, here are some "Good News" facts that are currently happening on The University of Alabama campus.
-The University of Alabama ranks 5th in the Nation in producing undergraduate alumni who are Forbes 500 CEO's, according to Forbes magazine's March, 25, 2004 release.
The magazine ranked America's largest companies, based on a composite score for sales, profits, assets, and market value. With eight alumni leading Forbes 500 companies, UA is ranked 1st among Forbes 500 CEO's who are alumni of SEC member institutions. The national top 10 colleges and universities in producing these alumni, with the number of 2004 Forbes 500 CEO's are listed below.
1.) Harvard University (16)
2.) Princeton University (12)

New York City. The Crimson White (UA's student newspaper) and Marr's Field Journal (UA's undergraduate-produced literary magazine) were awarded Silver Crowns by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association on March 20, 2004.
Competing in the daily college newspaper category, this is the second year in a row the Crimson White has won the award. The Crimson White is the ONLY daily college newspaper in the state of Alabama.
-The Princeton Review has once again ranked The University of Alabama as the top academic university in the state in its 2004 edition of "America's Best 351 Colleges".
As for the last several years, The University of Alabama received the highest academic rating score among colleges and universities in the state. Also, in this year's edition, The University of Alabama was selected in the categories of "Best in the Southeast" and "America's Best College Values".
-A team of Mechanical Engineering students from The University of Alabama won first place at the East Coast Human-Powered Vehicle Challenge, held recently in Gainesville, Florida. The five-student team won first place in both a design competition and overall first place in the Utility Vehicle Event, sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The UA team competed against such schools as, Virginia Tech, Wright State, and The University of Florida. Congratulations to David Hovater, Elizabeth Jannik, Anisa Jones, Henry Porter, and Raymond Kyle for representing OUR University well.
As you can see, the University of Alabama breeds success. With ALL its family pulling together for one cause, "The betterment of OUR University", we will see success at an even higher level. In whatever WE do, The
University of Alabama has ALWAYS strived to be the BEST. As a family, one part always compliments the other part. Here's to what The University of Alabama has been and what it will be.
ROLL TIDE FOREVER!!!
