Diego Pavia seeking 7th year now

I fell down the other day on the sidewalk. In all honesty the impact wasn’t too bad. I’m 55. Then l tried to get up and the whole world started spinning even though my head never made contact. Then breathing was tough. About 2 hours later l felt like I’d been used as a tackling dummy.

I can’t imagine trying to tackle even a small guy without needing extra morphine and help off the field.

Is this kid afraid of trying to become a pro? These last two last season and this one so far have been great for him.

Are they really college students now? I know some graduate, but so many are playing for 3,4, or 5 schools. If the scholarship and education don’t matter, then why is there a 5 year (with RS year) limit? It’s crazy, but he could probably sue and win based on being denied the opportunity to earn a living.

I was encouraged by many when I was in my early 20’s to take the MCAT and apply to medical school back in the early 1980’s. I just couldn’t see myself investing another four years in medical school, then years of internships/residencies/fellowships etc.

My late father in law was a physician that practiced almost 50 years, into his early 80’s. Often the conversation would turn to discussions of a clinical nature (my wife, his daughter, is a pediatric and critical care nurse) and I would blurt out something (usually an obscure fact related to some disease, disorder, diagnosis or treatment) and he would look at me with a curious look. Then he would ask me “how in the world did you know that?”. The only thing I could say is “I probably read about it somewhere and it “stuck” in my brain”.

He often said “you missed your true calling. You should have been a physician at a teaching institution or a professor of history” . 😂

Hindsight is always perfect, huh?

Pat Dye said it is 50/50...;)

There has been plenty of players who went the juco route and were able to make it to the NFL. Guess Pavia and his posse just don't have that kinda talent.
Pavia 100% does not have NFL talent, which is why he's trying to continue the CFB gravy train.

He couldn't care less about whether or not this precedence is good for the sport, he's 100% committed to what is best for himself.

Sadly, this is what CFB had largely become...

Here is the thing. The NCAA painted themselves into this corner. When they started handing out extra years in hardship waivers in almost every circumstance where players were still playing six or seven or more years, they set a precedent. They basically said “eligibility” isn’t a hard and fast number. Eligibility is “whatever we say it is”. So now the courts/judges are saying “you (NCAA) can’t just set some arbitrary number limiting eligibility now because it can directly affect the players ability to earn based on NIL. You’re shutting them out of the market place using rules and standards you don’t even adhere to”.

College athletics is one big cluster now…

You can't blame them for trying, the way football decisions are trending I'd say there's a better than 50/50chance it goes in his favor, all they can say is no, they've got nothing to lose really.

He is not seeking another year:

"As his attorneys worked to make it a class-action case, though, the Vanderbilt quarterback said he does not intend on playing another year at Vanderbilt."

Spoken like a lawyer. So, he'll just transfer somewhere that needs an experienced quarterback and has some spare NIL money lying around. I knew this was going to happen once the players started making kwan. What kid, that's maybe not NFL talent, and is pulling down several hundred thousand $ is not going to fight tooth and nail to keep the gravy train going. You really can't blame him for looking out for himself first.
