DJ Hall in T-Town

I'm checking with a couple of them now. DBTide, a good friend of mine, posted it on TI, and his info is pretty much reliable. If so, it's damn good news we need him badly...

Yep, the team's expecting him this weekend...

Again, according to Coach Connelly, DJ was in town and attending pass skels last week. I suppose it is possible that he came up for a long weekend and then went back, but I don't see Coach Connelly lying to someone right to their face...especially when it's one on one and not him making broad comments to a room full of people.

This came from a couple of the players. It's possible he's there and some of the players don't know it, but these have been given to expect that he's coming in on the weekend. I have fingers crossed on both hands that the remaining issues can be cleared up and he can be eligible this fall...

I asked, and none of the players we know said a thing about DJ being in town. Considering, those players compete regularly in the skel drills it certainly seems that information would have been passed along.

Again, the weekend before last was DJ's birthday...he was in FL because a few of our players went down and spent some time with him.

There are two different bits of information coming down right now...the one that I think carries some merit is he'll end up missing a few games. Although, since we don't know the nature of the disciplinary actions taken by Shula, he may have fulfilled his "obligations" over this past few months.

The players I've contacted would know if he had been in skels. In addition, I have friends who've attended some recently. I'm like Terry, I haven't heard anything about his already being in T-town. There was a rumor on TI which apparently sprang from his signing a lease with some other players. I'll repeat, we need him worse probably than most realize. I hope he manages to get everything straightened out...

so I stand by my original statement. I hope he brought his running shoes, a barf bag, and his A-game. That kid is going to do special things for us.

And let's hope it's not just in a barf bag!

Really nothing clandestine. Some of the incoming may not be where everyone hoped they would be AT THIS POINT (doesn't mean they won't make a difference, eventually). Add to that some WRs solid in the past didn't have great years last season and Pro is doubtful at best and probably out of the picture for this season. I don't think it requires a "paint by the numbers" landscape to figure out that we need a solid, go-to receiver. #81 can be that, if he decides it's important to him, but having two solid, experienced, WRs, with a new QB, can hardly be over-emphasized.

What about Stover? Haven't heard much......& that's probably not a good thing.
I think he's one of the incoming Earle is referring to. Hopefully he'll have an injury free and productive fall camp, because we're certainly going to need him.

Speaking of #81, are things looking up for him? Going into the summer there was serious talk of being without DJ and KB, but KB had the better chance of being around this season. Any updates that can be shared?

As of about two weeks ago he'd been attending the skel drills and working out with the team consistantly.

I'd say, the majority of us have been through a stage in life just like what KB is going through. One day, we have all of our priorities in order and the next day we don't. About the only comparison I can think of is a child that has just become a teenager...one day, they need all the love and attn. their parents can give them and the next day they think they are an adult. (that's just an analogy)

As we've said for the last year+, KB is still in his "growing up" stage...it is something he'll need to do, quickly, but it isn't the kind of thing a coach, mentor or anyone else can force...he needs to do it for himself. Maturation, doesn't come at a particular age...and for some, never.

Can I ask you to expand on this comment? You peaked my interest. :BigA:

:) ;) "piqued" :) ;)

Here's where the concern comes from...if you take into account there was a good possibility (some serious doubts from several around the program) that we may not have Hall and Brown this fall...here's what our WR rotation would have looked like.

WR: 9-Nikita Stover, 25-Aaron McDaniel, ##-Mike McCoy (TF)
WR: 11-Matt Caddell, 7-Will Oakley, ##-Earl Alexander (TF)

That would leave us with a few walk-ons we would need to contribute...Darwin Salaam, Reyn Willis, Danny Barger, Michael Dowdell, Danny White.

While Stover has been fighting his injury bug this summer there is word he's coming along but still needs to refine his routes, etc. Caddell? Needs to step up. Oakley? Can he make it through a season, much less a fall or spring camp, without injury? McCoy has looked good in skel drills...but as Bino put it, "we haven't seen him in pads yet." Alexander has been characterized as "having great hands."

So, as you can see based on who we have on campus right now...we NEED both Hall and Brown on the field this year.

Thanks for the clarification, both linguistically and on the Hall situation.

I learn something all the time on this board. :)

Also Jake Jones is being listed as WR instead of DB due to excellent hands or as my housemate observed "catches everything thrown at him."
