Done with Auburn

The rivalry just isn't fun anymore. It's gotten VERY toxic and has turned into an even nastier rivalry than the Miami-Notre Dame series. Although, Miami and Notre Dame did just play each other in a bowl game this past season, it was however, only because it was in fact a bowl game, but I digress. Anyway, I would not mind it one bit if LSU became our main year-end rival on Thanksgiving weekend and we never again took the field with auburn. It got discontinued once back in the early 20th century. It may not be a bad idea to discontinue it again. And I felt this way long before old dumb @ss poisoned those trees. I've felt this way some 10 years or so.

I have to agree with the poster...
I dont even read any more Auburn posts....I only read this one because it was interesting due to the title. Reading threads about Auburn is very old and not even interesting to me in any way.

I love the fact that the main board on tidefans is is Bama related...and all auburn info is dumped into one thread...great job by the moderators of this site, IMO!

The greatest sign of disrespect is indifference.

Auburn University is irrelevant...and I'm indifferent.

But let's not suggest this had anything to do with a toxic relationship. It had to do with the fact Miami was regularly thumping Notre Dame's behind - that's the ONLY reason that rivalry got shelved.

If the Irish had won 9 of 10 games over the Hurricanes then this wouldn't have been a problem.

Notre Dame opts out of rivalries that turn one-sided against them.

We could put this rivalry to rest with a good decade long win streak. We have only won two out of the past eight. I would like to get a bunch in a row, then call it off. We certainly don't want them to be thinking we quit the series because we couldn't beat them.

I am with the original poster on this one. I am tired of hearing how great AU is despite the whole natural world being against them. How long can they continue to sing the same song of conspiracy?

I have a friend that is a life long Tiger fan. We have literally known each other all of our lives (Think of ROn WHite and the Tater Salad story). After BAma won #13, I didn't call her. I didn't brag when I saw her. In fact, she brought it up. When Allbarn won it, she could not wait to come brag to me and tell me how AU will not win much this coming season, but would be back in the hunt in 2012. THen she immediatley went into how the NCAA, REC, SEC, and the rest of the college football team are working against AU in some grand conspiracy. WHen do they give up on this?

I am done with AU. I can no longer stomach the guilt trip they try to impose on me because I do not like Auburn.

I don't know. Some place in Georgia from what I've heard.

Last I heard they were in the Church Renovation business. *shrugs*

I mean it, I am done with them. Seriously, so much hate from a group of individuals towards another group because of the colors worn on gameday. Everything about the school seems, for lack of a better word, dishonest. Everything spoken by half their fanbase seems to blame all their troubles on everyone else in the world. I have no respect for people unwilling to deal with their own issues like adults.

So, I wash my hands of them. Don't ask me to click any links to their boards, quote any messages from their fans, etc. Let them cheat and then get caught, or not get caught - honestly, I no longer care. If something happens, it will happen and if not, then it's irrelevant. I, personally, can no more effect the outcome of an investigation at Auburn than I can change the outcome of Proposition 291 for City Ordinance to Rezone School Districts for Detroit. I care about the same as well.

Don't get me wrong - I'll still joke about Cam Newton scoring low on the Wonderlic and other silly things like that. The investigation, though, I'm stepping away from as well as their psychotic, tin-foil hat wearing fanbase.

Okay, I'm done too. I recently got some first hand experience with just how unhappy those people are. I ride in one of the big parades here in New Orleans, and apparently we let an Auburn fan ride too. When we were loading our floats I see this guy coming with an Auburn shirt on. Of course, I had my BAMA shirt on. I was going to be pleasant and just say "good year" or something like that, but this guy would not even look at me. Bear in mind, he passed within 2 feet of me four separate times and would never even look my way. For someone who just won the MNC, I would think you'd be happy. I guess he was mad about the trees.
