Whitlock has a lot of pressure from him back home, so it is hard to say he'll be a lock at any point. Looney isn't even considering us at this point. We pretty much went in another direction.

Realistic

1. Me and Julio down by the schoolyard Jones
2. William not the NY Giant Green
3. Robby Green
4. Looney Tunes
5. Jerrell Harris
6. Tyler Edwards
7. Antoine McClain
8. Star Jackson
9. Cordy Glenn
10. Jacoby Thomas

O.K., I'll give it a shot--

1. Julio Jones (as if someone else would be #1)
2. Star Jackson
3. Cordy Glenn
4. Robby Green
5. Barrett Jones
6. Antoine McClain
7. Chris Jordan
8. Jerrell Harris
9. Charles Whitlock
10. Arthur Brown

I expect 6 or 7 of this ten. I believe we are in excellent shape with 1-4, good shape with 5-7, decent shape with 8 and 9, and a longshot for 10.

Comments (thoughtful and ludicrous) welcome.:biggrin2:

Your list is the closest to my thinking. Although I would probably not include your 4, 9 and 10. I would put in three defensive linemen in their slots.

1. Julio Jones
2. Star Jackson
3. Jerrell Harris
4. William Green
5. Chris Jordan
6. Reggie Ellis or Brandon Thompson (either/or)
7. Barrett Jones
8. Antoine McClain
9. Cordy Glenn
10. Kerry Murphy (resign after Prep school)

As far as the people picking Looney, as RTO said he is not really considering us anymore or vice versa. He still lists Bama as medium interest and I am leaving him on the Commitment/Prospect list for that reason, but it sure looks like he goes elsewhere.

I completely forgot KM. Scratch my # 10 longshot, although I would gladly bump somebody to get him. Ellis may be another Square, seemingly coming out of nowhere to pick 'Bama--I'll gladly take him if he does. Green I forgot as well, although the list is starting to get crowded now...:conf3: I still hold out hope for Whitlock, especially after he put us down for an official visit, but we may not have room if a couple of the fence-sitters (i.e.-Harris and McClain) come on in. Toby Jackson seems to be wavering and waffling--I'm not sure what's on his mind, but he could re-arrange our numbers for us.

Some of these guys will commit after seeing a couple of games. I'm starting to think that when we get down to five or so slots they will all fill in suddenly, as the remaining recruits see the sands slipping through the hourglass. This could be an interesting fall...;)

Dream 10?

Or Realistic 10? I think some of you are confused, lol

Dream 10:

1. Julio Jones
2. Arthur Brown
3. T.J. Bryant
4. William Green
5. Kerry Murphy
6. Robert Quinn
7. Terrelle Pryor
8. Jerrell Harris
9. Barrett Jones
10. Brandon Thompson

(Bonus)
11. De-Commit from Dee Finley from Florida to Alabama at the last minute (he will have been "committed" to Florida this whole time) This would really .... off the Barners! Make them feel like they never had a shot.

This would be one heck of a recruiting class, Def. top 3. I say realistically if we can get 4-5 of these guys before the others commit anywhere else, we'll have a better shot at swaying the rest. The more talent we bring in early, the more likely the other talent will want to congregate around them.

BTW, if we end up getting another RB committed like DeBoskie, D. Jackson, or Jordan , I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see one of our other RB's de-commit.

Also, it's not that I don't want Star Jackson. And any other year Terrelle Pryor would probably be on top of my top 10 list, they are both incredible looking QB's, but we are 3 deep at QB right now and unless J.P. has a ridiculous year and decides to go pro, we'll be 3-deep next year. McElroy is def. the guy waiting in the wings and he'll only be a sophomore next year. I would much rather stock up on DB's, DL's, LB's than an extra QB.

Maybe I'm naive, but I want to win the game on the line of scrimmage first and foremost, rely on our defense second, and if we absolutely have to because we've failed at the first two points, ask our offense to step up and score more than the opposition.

Hey a guy can dream can't he? This is of course not plausible but fun nonetheless.

I can't believe A. Brown is so far down (or non-existent) on most of the lists on this page. Remember, this is a dream list. I almost have him ahead of Julio. Almost because wherever Brown goes, his insanely talented little brother will more than likely follow him next year. His little brother will most likely be a Rivals top 100 player next year. So on this dream list, if you get Brown, you get 2 for the price of 1. ;)

Minus Pryor, it is definitely plausible.

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence. Pryor is an amazing athlete and anybody that doesn't have this guy on a dream list isn't dreaming big enough! Who cares about QB depth. With Star and Pryor being such outstanding athletes it would be amazing to see those two compete against each other and the loser gets moved to another position!

RTO, I know there has been much talk about Brown and I think you have said that Bama and OU will be in the mix until the end, but what are your gut feelings about this guy? What defense would suit him better? What depth situation would get him earlier playing time? What coaching staff do you think he prefers? Thanks.

I follow your logic but I am guessing that CNS thinks he can upgrade the talent level at QB by bringing in Jackson and/or McCarron. It is really too early to tell how good McElroy and Fanuzzi are going to turn out.

We weren't on the radar and all of a sudden we were at the top after the first visit. The amount of ground we made up in such a short time is quite amazing. OU will still be tough to beat.

I have no idea what the depth chart is at OU, but he could start at the Will opposite of McClain at the Mike next year for us.

With Fanuzzi, it is too early to tell. But with McElroy I really think he's proven he's the real deal. Broke many records on the highest stage of Texas football, threw for over 300 yards and 4 TD's in the state championship game. Played decent in the Spring game this year, but has really come into his own during fall training and scrimmages. He is def. the guy waiting in the wings, no doubt in my mind he'll be the starter as soon as J.P. leaves. And I think we get A.J. McCarron next year anyway, so really the QB position is a wash this year even if we don't get anyone.

If we did get Star this year, he probably wouldn't start until his RS Jr. year anyway which would be 2011, which is why he's not even on my top 10 list.

I agree, I don't know what the depth chart looks like at OU but I would be amazed if he didn't start immediately if he came to UA. It's likely he'd get significant playing time at OU as well though so I don't know how much this would play in our favor if any. Getting him would be right up there in level of importance as getting Julio IMHO he's that good.

According to rivals, Oklahoma has 11 LBs. It also appears they play a 4-3 which obviously doesn't allow more LB's in the depth chart. Of those 11, here is the break down:

Seniors-
Lewis Baker (4 star, #1 WLB)
Ian Pleasant (3rd String, possibly moving to fullback).

Juniors-
Mike Reed (5 star JUCO, #1 MLB)
Curtis Lofton (4 star #1 SLB)
Brock Hesse (unrated)

Sophomores-
Ryan Reynolds (5 star, #2 WLB, RS Soph.)
Lamont Robinson (4 star, #3 MLB)

Freshman-
Austin Box (4 star, not on depth chart)
TC Bread (unrated)
Brandon Crowe (3 star, not on depth chart)
Travis Lewis (4 star, not on depth chart)

My take is that the depth chart isn't really hurting OU that much, because their starters will be gone in the next two years. The thing that may hurt is that 2nd string WLB Ryan Reynolds is also a 5 star recruit with 2 more years experience in the system than Arthur Brown would have coming in.

But the MLB and SLB positions will have returning starters next year when AB would be a freshman, and WLB (more than likely his desired position) will have another highly regarded prospect with experience in the system. While at Alabama, he would make an immediate impact, more than likely, at any of the LB positions, except Jack. I figured since everyone didn't know about the OU depth situation that this helps.

But wouldn't you love it if we had 5 4* recruits and 2 5* recruits to fill out our depth chart?

Is anyone else becoming greedy with this class? I'm not sure who else remain or how many we'll sign. I suppose could be 8 more now after Star's verbal. That would put us at 27....anticipating some casualties.

I'd love to lock down the state's top talent. That leaves:
Julio Jones
Antoine McClain
Jerrell Harris
William Green

I'm greedy for these out of state guys too:
Barrett Jones
Cordy Glenn
Arthur Brown
Chris Jordan
Robby Green
Tyler Edwards
Reggie Ellis

With Schrieber leaving, Brown would at the very worst be the #2 WLB behind a SR (Zeke). He could take the SLB if Fanney doesn't step up next year. I'm surprised we don't have more top notch S looking at us, unless CNS plans to move Barron to S and has a lot of confidence in the development of Ali, Woodall, and Farmer.
