During "Hey Coach," CNS Says Lindsay and Kelly will Share Time (bad wk of practice?)

When I heard Saban discuss it, I got the impression Chad will start with Ryan getting some playing time. This is what Andrew Gribble posted on al.com:

Saban says C Ryan Kelly will play Saturday but did not receive all of the first-team reps in practice, so Chad Lindsay will be playing, too.

I also saw that Coach mentioned something about a player having an issue with another player on the team.
-- Saban said he talked to a player today who had an issue with somebody else on the team. Frustrated that the player wouldn't talk about it. Stresses that communication is imperative. Says the player is being a hypocrite if he won't talk to the player he has an issue with.

I guess we will see which one the OL performs best with. That should answer some questions. (I'm hoping it clicks with both of them. One more thing for the other team to worry about.)

How do y'all feel about Lindsey& Kelly alternating at the C position, personally, I'd rather Lindsey get all the 1st team reps so it gives the OLine a continuity& Lindsey gets the needed reps to become an even better C, and then let Kelly come in with the 2nd team when they come in..I will trust however Coach Saban does it though..JMO

I know we have something going but as I posted in another thread, most coaches say a player does not lose his job due to an injury. With both playing, the one that out performs and the team performs well he will be the starter moving forward most likely.

Go back to the 2011 season. McCullough replaces Steen in the line-up and he stays there for the rest of the season.

Exactly Brother..It's a great problem to have..I kust think Lindsey is the better of the two..

I agree I don't think a player should lose his job when he's injured however when he gets outplayed in his absence I think it's a different story. JMO

I agree 100% with ya..I love Kelly & respect the heck out of him, but, we're a better offense with him making the line calls..And he just has that mean streak I don't think Kelly has & is a mauler when he's run blocking, a true mauler, Lindsey has proven to be one of the best center not only in the SEC, but the entire country, and he will only become better with more reps he gets..That's why I hope he eventually gets all the reps when the 1st string is on the field playing....

This is a tricky situation. Kelly is a vocal team leader and good buddies with AJ. But I have a strong feeling that coach Saban sees what we saw, but is doing this for harmony, fairness and to see if CL is indeed going to continue playing so well.

Kelly is young, and he will end up starting eventually, if Chad beats him out, he will get playing time until CL graduates.

My hope is that CL becomes the sole center. But coach is doing the right thing. If not for CL's play and the close competition, Kelly would just get his spot back.

You make a valid point & I agree with ya to an extent, but, our OLine has found an identity with Lindsey at the center spot, that was missing with Kelly as our starting C, I have no problem with Coach Saban alternating them, as long as it doesn't mess up that continuity & really good strides we've made with our OLine since Lindsey has become our starting C..

Yup..He's proven to be the best center on the team, and with more reps, he has the talent to become one of the best in the country & has the talent to become an AA, if he's given the reps to prove himself to college football..JMO

I suspect we'll know more after this saturday game, to see who got more push, who can open up holes better. IF both plays well, then expect them to alternate for rest of the season.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this, cause we looked 100% btter as soon as Lindsey came in & took over when Kelly got injured..And we wasn't making any positive strides before Kelly got injured, we had no running game, and we just looked lost as a unit with Kelly making the line calls..

I'm not trying to dog Kelly, cause he's part of the Crimson Tide Family, but, it's like "Night & Day" ,as to how good we've looked when Kelly was our starting C, as compared, to how dominant we have become with Lindsey making the line calls..Again that's just my opinion, and I respect yours, I just greatly disagree with ya this time..

It's kinda concerning that center and right tackle are possibly time shares right now. I want to say that Kelly was Pipp'd but the statements from CNS seem to indicate it isn't so.

RT and maybe the G spots, but rotating at C doesn't seem usual to me. If both are playing at a high level then great, it's always good to have fresh guys step in.

Whatever Coach says. I'm just a fan sharing my 2 cents.
