Early AM reports: Shula Fired

Re: Shula Gone

You are right, Jess is more connected. The job has to be open to be offered.

All that's needed is logic.

"Hey, Shula is not going to be retained as the coach for next year. We're interested in YOU.. Wanna come on over?"

It does NOT have to be a formal "Okay hes gone now........" scenerio in order to speak with people that you want to fill the position with. This stuff happens every day in the business world.

Re: Shula Gone

It is true according to a BOT member. If you check my hometown you can probably sort things out for yourself.

The mods might be in bed.

No, not in bed at this time last night, just not on this board.

That would be bold...if the replacement was in Tuscaloosa.

I really feel like we've given Shula the shaft here. I firmly believe it wasn't all his fault. Not his fault Chris Capps couldn't block for JPW. And Shula was such a great guy, and had proven in 05 what he could do with great talent.

It's UA that has been getting the shaft.

Re: Shula Gone

OK folks, we've been friends for awhile now. Let's stop the Stoops talk right now!
Good Luck. I hear you might play Okla. State in a bowl. You will start to think Auburn fans are smart after you deal with the low budget Aggies.

The barners may be low class but not low budget with Lowder's money.

Re: Shula Gone

Will you all travel to Memphis, Nashville or Shreveport, pay for a weekend to attend a meaningless game?

Sure will.

Okay, probably not to Shreveport; but definitely to Nashvegas or Memphis.

Now it's more important than ever for the fans to show the players how much we support them -- no matter who the coach is.

Easier to Fire Shula Than Croom

I guess that was a hidden benefit of hiring Coach Shula over Croom!

What a sad day. We were upset over DuBose's behavior so Franchione was hired. We were dissed by Fran - total lack of loyalty - so Price was hired. We were upset over Price's behavior, so Shula was hired. So I guess we are looking for a coach who is not loyal, cheats on his wife, frequents strip clubs...but oh, can win.

Sorry, I'll take Coach Shula anyday.

You can have him.

UA really has egg on its face after giving CMS an extension and pay raise last year. I think the decision to fire CMS really sucks! I guess FSU will get Robert Marve now.

If Marve wants to go to FSU after this then let it be. Sometimes it's ok to lose a little to gain a lot in the long run, but if he's looking for stability at FSU then he might be kidding himself at the present.

Winning is what pays the light bills.
Alabama should be a destination - not a training ground. Nobody doubts Shula's character and commitment. He just didn't get it done. I didn't bother asking the pilot of my plane this weekend if he was a nice guy, faithful to his wife and committed to his company. I just assumed he knew how to perform his job (flying) well.

According to some on this board it wouldn't matter what kind of pilot he was. As long as he was a nice guy and brought class and integrity to the airline.
