Endowed Scholarships.

I feel that we need to add more endowed scholarships. We only have one. Tennessee has all of their football scholarships endowed. What they do is set aside 200,000-300,000 for each scholarship slot. the interest pays the student athlete tuition. This allows their athletic department to save a little cash every year. Alabama only has one, which was given by the Mobile chapter of the Red Elephant Club. Being fresh out of college I don't have the much money to give the University. However, I was wondering if their was anything else that could be done in the way of fundraisers and such that might give us a little boost. I would like to get thoughts and ideas from any and everyone. I am not talking major amounts here just small sums that would add up over time. Five dollars here and ten dollars there. I would also like to know if anyone else is trying to do this as well. I just feel as though this is another thing that might bring us back to a national powerhouse. ****!!!!!!!

If people just gave the loose change in their pocket at every game. That would probably be enough to endow one scholarship per year. 88,000 x $1.00 = $88,000 that is just for one game. I know that is assuming that everyone gave a dollar and a lot probably would not. Half is $44,000.

Nice idea but there are currently only 8411 registered members. Obviously all 8411 are not regular users of the site and to reach your goal the donation per member would be quite high unless it was done over several years before the scholarship could be awarded.

Thinking out of the box is what all fans should be doing right now. It's good to see some voicing ideas.

Believe you me, I have a ton of them on ways we can improve the University.
