ESPN2 Announcers

There's just no excuse for that. He shouldn't be in the business if he's not gonna do his homework better than that. You could almost forgive him if it were a 3rd stringer buried on the bench, but to not know the starting QB's name is not excuseable. He was obviously not prepared.

Tommy,

I'll bet you that was a "makeshift" crew and they don't know until about Wednesday of every week where they are going to be. Aren't they a "Third or Fourth string" crew for ESPN?

Besides, Chris Spielman if I remember correctly wasn't an English major but one heck'uva Linebacker.

I thjink its great we are complaining about the announcers instead of our players, coaches, AD, or whoever else may be involved. The announcers were not that bad but they were not up to the standard that Eli and Snake have set. When possible I like to watch on tv and listen on the Bama network.

Roll Tide Roll

I thought they did a good job. The greek comments were great and well deserved. It's very refreshing to see nice looking students who actually dress up for the game. Also, it sounds like they were very impressed with our campus and their visit to Tuscaloosa.

I actually enjoyed them as well. They made some name mistakes, but Spielmans knowledge of the game is good. He had some great one liners and breaks down whats happening in the trenches really well. He also seemed to be equally complimentary of BOTH teams. It's hard to find a nutreal analyst these days.

I thought David Crane(from the CTSN) and Tyler Watts did better calling the game on PPV last week than these two guys. Heck, I actually think Tyler could qualify for a job with ESPN now...

Stuff I noticed:

1. Calling Croyle: Croyles
2. Remarking that the greek students were dressed in coat and tie for intiation when they dress that way for every game.
3. Several times calling McClain Castille and vice versa
4. Saying that McClain had gone to the locker room and then seeing him on the next play
5. Remarking that Brodie killed 30,000 doves

BUT at least they did not call Coach Shula by his brother's name

Boy was it ever. I listened to a little bit of the Auburn game on JP and that Dave Rowe is terrible (and that's puttling it kindly).

Those ESPN2 guys kept trying to be comedians. In my book they stunk.

How did you like Mike Jones's short sleeve, no t-shirt underneath, van huessen dress shirt. If you are going to bo on national television, don't where a short sleeve dress shirt, it's just not professional. He looked like he was 7 years old on Easter Sunday. Maybe i'm the only one that noticed that, but i thought it was funny. No offense to anyone who where's those type of shirts, you're probably not on tv.

The only problem with that is I watch the broadcast on DirecTV, so if I have the radio on, I hear the results of the play before the ball is snapped. :biggrin2:

That is the reason that I do not listen to the radio broadcast when the game is on tv. I do not see why they couldn't delay the radio broadcast by about 5 seconds.

Props for Mark Jones

The best line in the whole game was when the OSU homer Spielman said TP was a poor man's Ted Ginn Jr. and Mark Jones responded with a

Hey Chris look at the numbers you should say Ted Ginn Jr. is a poor man's Tyrone Prothro. That was priceless.

Oh by the way freshmen, I was proud of the pub you got on national television on your game attire. Even the sports bar where I was at people were commenting on how the southern fans dress up. This is what I have been saying to all these yahoos that real football is played in the south.

RTR!

I loved it when they were "amazed" at the talent of "that" DeMeco Ryans.....they stated the obvious in Corso-like fashion most of the evening.

I agree PIP, I thought the SS w/ no T was not fitting. The guys were better than having a woman call the game. Sorry to offend some, but that just doesn't work for me. The name issue is ridiculous and very unprofessional. The color man needs to remember he is there to explain the game to non-game people and drop the vernacular. Seemed like he was trying to act like he knew so much by doing that.

But as said previously, so glad this is what we are complaining about.
