When I was in nursing school, I helped a patient that had flesh eating disease. She had already had one leg amputated above the knee, the other right below the knee. One hand had to be amputated, and the other was amputated at her elbow. It was a fascinating case. They put her in a hyperbaric (sp.) chamber to help regenerate tissue and such.

Edit: I believe she had gangrene.

I'm sure the lady you were helping thought it was real fascinating too! :wink:
