Big game tonight. UF is favored by 5.5 but I think we have a decent chance of winning if the guys continue to improve. Honestly haven't watched UF play much this year but they're normally a solid squad..

I just looked it up and was surprised to see UF at #3 in the RPI. I haven't kept up with much basketball yet this year, so I was out of touch with their team.

More info - from one of our forum members:

Florida leads the all-time series, 73-67, but is 0-1 vs. Alabama under Mike White.
UF has won five straight in Tuscaloosa, yet still holds just a 19-47 road record against the Crimson Tide all-time. Alabama enters the game on a four-game winning streak, including a 2-0 start in the SEC with wins at Mississippi State and against Vanderbilt.

Through 3 SEC games, the Gators are shooting 50 percent on 3-pointers in the 2nd half, hitting 14 of 28 attempts. Most notably KeVaughn Allen is 7-for-8 (.778) and Justin Leon is 4-for-8 (.500).

Per KenPom.com, Florida’s non-conference schedule is rated the toughest of any power conference team and 17th-hardest in Division I. UF and Nebraska are the only Power 5 teams to rate in the nation’s top 40 toughest non-conference schedules.
The Gators were also the only SEC team to rate in KenPom’s top 50 toughest non-conference schedules.
That rating will likely only improve after UF visits Oklahoma (#56) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge in January.
(Ratings through Dec. 27.)

This situation is somewhat similar to our trip to Westwood in 1983 in the wake of Coach Bryant's death

Bama Basketball has a chance to uplift a sad time with Football, I hope the locals turn out in support. Bama basketball has a better chance at The National Title in 2016-17 than Bama Football does:cool:

This game will be a MAJOR test of our team, but we can certainly beat the Gators tonight and this would really help us to establish control of our home court. Alabama should have a bit of a an overall size advantage most of the time, but Florida shoots the ball better than we do (which will be true for many teams). Florida can get hot from the outside, so we really need to play solid defense all night long. I hope we will have a decent crowd with some energy, rather than having everyone still feeling bumbed out about last night. A good home crowd really can help a team play better defense and we need to help this team maintain a high energy defense for the entire game.

Beth Mowins isn't it?

Don't think so
