Florida Message Boards

Yes but when 11 schools all say you have the worst and most classless fans...... there has to be some nugget of truth to it. UGA by far is number one on both SEC and ACC lists for vile behavior.

I for one have never had a bad run in with a bama fan although I don't know too many personally. but you will get your share of bad fans no matter where you go. as i was reading your message board it seemed to play out much like ours over at the GSMB...there were plenty of people saying classy things but still bringing the smack talk (as it should be)...and then there are those who say we are arrogant and rude and say tasteless things but then follow it up with a post that shows arrogance, rudenss and no taste. i for one can agree with the idea that UGA fans are the worst...there was not a single year of going to the WLOCP that some UGA fan was in my face saying we were going down and that the gators suck.

Rammer Jammer should only be used for special victories over bitter rivals and only if the margin of victory is big enough.

I have been reading TideFans for a long time. I never joined for a number of reasons, but I'm here now. I've followed the Rammer Jammer argument, and your statement is pretty much the policy of the Athletic Department in regards to the appropriate time to play Rammer Jammer.

At the request of Mal Moore in '02, Rammer Jammer was supposed to be played only twice per game. The band was even asked to refrain from rehearsing or otherwise playing it on game day. The first time was supposed to be if we were winning decisively--by more than a touchdown--with 2:00 left in the game. It was the intention, I believe, for "We're gonna beat the hell outta you" (the version previously sung before the games) to be used at this time. The second time deemed appropriate for Rammer Jammer was when the clock ticked to 0:00, during which "We just beat the hell outta you" would be used.

The skill level of our opponents was never a part of the equation. Score and time were (and still are) the two main factors. Mal Moore hates the cheer but understands that many fans want to hear it. This business of booing the band for not playing it at the Vanderbilt game, for example, is nonsense. There is no Red Button that Moore presses to signal that it's okay to play Rammer Jammer. He has stated the policy (for lack of a better word), and the band tries to stick to it.

Regardless, I've been to every SEC stadium multiple times in one capacity or another, save Kentucky. UGA, MSU, and LSU fans have more bad apples than good. The other SEC schools are about the same. UT's fans and Auburn's fans are actually pretty decent. Florida's fans do lack class as a unit in the stadium (cheering at injuries), but as far as individual harassment is concerned, I've never encountered anything of the sort from them.

Tidefans has never been a smack board. We also do not allow for lack of better words, ignorant sparring among members.
