Flyover

Fly Over

When the jets flew over that close, all I could think about was the quote in CADDYSHACK when the boatplane passed over Rodney Dangerfield's boat and he replied, "I almost got head from Amelia Earhardt!" :eek2:
That was the greatest pregame festivities I had ever been.

yeah, i bet that was neat, hearing what LOUD sounds like, since the band never plays loud enough to be heard.

Remarks like this shut down the MDB board. By the way, thanks for ruining it for the rest of us. Criticism is one thing, but this is just plain antagonistic.

It's what we call a sarcastic joke.

Look, if your in the student section, you hardly ever hear the halftime show. That's obviously because the band is playing to the alumni with the big money on their side of the field. That's fine, but it's unfortunate the students and other side of the stadium never get to hear the halftime show.

As for LSU's pep band, I thought how loud they played was great for their fans. Granted, most of their fans were right by the band and could respond to their songs, but the MDB never seems to get the other side of the stadium into it because the volume is never loud enough. However, that could be coupled by the fact that that side of the stadium is the quieter side in general.

From another person on the field....

When Dr. Ozzello told us there would be a flyover, I was expecting it to be like the last one, the MSU game in 2002, where the planes were well above the stadium. This one yesterday certainly surprised and shocked me. My first thought was, "Am I going to suffer permanent hearing damage because of this?"

By the way, Jaco, how is a discussion of LSU's pep band and the MDB relevant to the topic of this thread?

The flyover was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I just knew that big ole jet was going to hit the upper deck. Kudos to whoever thought that up. :)

I was in U3-B and it seemed I could have touched that lower jet. He was right at the top of the stadium. Unbelievable!

To bad he didn't cause a heart murmer in Russell.

I was at the top of the ramp there on the east side, I was ready to take cover! So close, now it was loud from there. It made the hair stand up on my arms and the back of my neck!

Wow!

I was walking to my seat during the flyover so I all I heard was the loud rumble. Then I looked up and saw it almost hit the cranes! It scared the heck out of me! It was quite impressive...even the LSU fans were in awe of it!

Friends of mine just got back into town late last night, they enjoyed themselves alot. The fly-over scared the you know what out of them, enjoyed the tailgating before the game, visiting the strip and the quad. Alittle friendly bantering at the game. Well worth the trip, they think its the best road trip in the SEC.
