The last few Bama games i have been to, there has been flyovers, but they were all CBS games, i am wondering if its just a CBS thing or for all tv games, or for all Bama games??? thanks

then again maybe they wouldnt do it at night anyway

There was a flyover of a bomber and 2 jets before the Tulane game, which was the only game I've attended this season. I don't think it was a CBS game.

It basically comes down a few things:

Availability: are there any pilots available and willing to preform a fly over.

Timing of the game: early games and even 2:30 are perfect, 6:45, not so much.

Those are the two biggest factors that determine if we have a fly over or not.

coming from a flying sq all they have to is ask and we fly over. thats from the 187 th fw and 117th refeuling sq alabama air national guard. and im sure the 908th would do it also:BigA:

Here are the two greatest fly-overs I've witnessed, the outcome of the games were duds, but the fly-overs were more than amazing, especially the LSU flyover in 2005.

Don't do it Aero, they'd just try to make you throw up.... In addition to training, it's great pr for the USAF. They had one when my youngest was about 8 years old. He still talks about how cool it would be to fly a plane like that. Makes his mother go pale. But I agree it would really stink to have to get up on a Saturday and drag over to the AFB to fuel up and otherwise get one of those big sonofaguns ready for a 15 minute flight, not to mention doing the recovery. Probably miss the whole first quarter, too.

I have a friend who lives very near the Air Force Academy in Co. Springs; rides his bike to home games (which is pretty cool in & of itself!). He says they have the most awesome flyovers, which of course one would expect there. Recently, they had 3 fighter planes flyover in sequence, only when each one was approximately over the stadium they turned vertical & kicked the afterburners going straight up out of sight. Now there's a flyover to remember!! (BTW, I love the flyovers @ BDS. Was at the Iron Bowl in 06 w/ the choppers.)

I work with a guy who was at the Naval Academy for a few years. He said when Navy played Air Force a few years back that the flyover included 1 of every type of plane in the entire Air Force. So tankers and all flew over in sequence, that must have been pretty cool.

The flyover before the Ole Miss game was the loudest one I have ever heard.

I agree. I think it was the lowest/fastest flyover we've had at BDS. Definitely of the games I've been to. I'm used to the sound, you feel it more than hear it, but my wife isn't. Usually she's like, "wow, that's cool", and starts looking for the planes as soon as the anthem starts. At the Ole Miss game, she covered her ears and ducked.
