I know the game is evolving, it's getting faster. There are more snaps/reps for the QB. More balls to catch for the receiver and more handoffs for the RBs. But stats are still fun to look at.

Here are AJ's stats after his Jr. year

6-4 210
2993 passing yards
67.2 comp. %
30 TD
3 Int
and here are Tom Brady's senior year

6-4 211
2586 passing yards
61.1 comp. %
20 TD
6 Int

looking pretty similar eh?

AJ Is probably the most well-known quarterback in all of college football going into this fall.

He has to be, he's defending his third title game after absolutely dominating his opponents. I have no idea why he is not the Heisman favorite this year!? Of course, my glasses are practically infrared they're so crimson.

Because the Heisman is a numbers/stats/big highlights game. A.J.'s not the type of quarterback that will put up flashy numbers outside of wins.

Couple things...

Not sure if the original poster is comparing the two QBs or just comparing their numbers. If it's the former, there is no comparison. If it's the latter, cool story.

Secondly, regarding AJ's Heisman chances, if he wins it, it'll be because of his complete body of work, not just the season. If he's in the running, how can voters really overlook his past accomplishments? Would be pretty tough.

Looking at the numbers was fun. And that's just that.

But certain things seem ridiculous to even start discussing. Taking nothing away from AJ, or anyone else on our roster, but since about 2008, we've really been playing with an All-Star team. Unless they were a part of a dynasty (no matter how great (Bama teams of the 60s and 70s) or brief (USC teams of the 00s) , not many players can say that.

AJ has had the luxury of handing off to what will probably be 3 first round RBs. Playing behind what will probably be 3 (and possibly 4) 1st round draft pick offensive linemen (depending on if a team picks Barrett in round 1). He's throwing to what will probably be a 1st round pick at WR in Amari Cooper. And he played on a team with a defense that is basically a minor league NFL farm system. In fairness, Brady had two linemen who have had wonderful careers in Jeff Backus & Steve Hutchinson. But other than them, the most noticeable name on the roster aside from Brady in terms of what they did in the league is LB Dhani Jones...

But anywho...all that aside. As I said, looking at the numbers is fun. But it just seems weird, odd, awkward, whatever you wanna call it, to compare the two. And I certainly don't wanna jinx AJ (yeah...I'm superstitious like that)

Of course, Brady shared significant playing time at QB that season with Drew Henson. Henson threw 90 passes (completing only 47) for 546 yeards & 3 TDs in 1999. So, not completely an apples to apples comparison......Henson's playing time was not mop up duty in 1999. In contrast, Blake Sims' playing time was mop up type situations in 2012.
