I'm puzzled. Why all the hate for the film? I watched the trailer, and it's pretty much stock Disney: fluffy story line, young girl singing pop soundtrack tunes, cute little fuzzy animals hopping around. At least the g.d animals didn't talk (my biggest runaway moment for these types of movies).
It started when Disney cast a Latina actress to play Snow
WHITE. Oh, the pearls that were clutched that day!
Add to that MAGA antipathy towards Disney's perceived "wokeness".
Then Rachel Zegler made some pro-Palestinian statements, which quickly turned into stories of a falling out between her and her co-star Gal Godot.
The quality (or lack thereof) of the movie is irrelevant at this point.
Me, I'm just tired of Disney remaking
everything. There have been a couple of great remakes of Disney Classics--101 Dalmatians, purely on the strength of Glenn Close, Cinderella, kinda, because of wonderful production design. Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother didn't hurt either. But most have been overwhelmingly meh.
