Funny Dooley Quote

There simply isn't much of a quick path for achilles tendon injuries. You will especially miss Walls.

Destin, you and VolFan1 and a couple of other UT guys have managed to keep a thick skin over here. You'll need to grow it even thicker in the next year or two as the national media piles on, but stick in there anyhow. Dooley seems solid, and that's what you need right now, so give him a chance. You're welcome here any time, although the week preceding the third Saturday in October might get rough. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement...it hasn't been easy the last several years. I know y'all know what we're going through. I like CDD a lot and think given a fair amount of time will get us back on track. And as far as it getting rough on this board the week preceding the UT/Bama game, don't worry, I'm married to a die hard Bama fan and graduate so I hear it all year 'round. I've gotten real good with dealing with it. ;)

It will take Coach Dooley a couple of years of recruiting and weeding out the trouble-makers before he starts to compete with the big boys, but I can see it coming. Let's not forget Coach Saban's first year. He sure didn't waste any time running some of those slackers off and bringing in more committed players.

That's right, he will. Enjoy the disparity.

They're in as bad of shape as we were when all the ncaa BS had us at our lowest..And they did it to themselves..I love it..I hate the vols more than ever..

Although I like CDD, I don't care what happens to the football program as long as it's nothing less than a freefall to doom. There is no love lost for the UT nation after what their coaches and fans did to our program. Hopefully, Dooley will have another opportunity somewhere else very soon.

I think UT will be horrible. Their problems are so vast, they may as well impose sanctions on themselves. Their problems seem to be compounding and may yet worsen before the season even starts. I hope it continues honestly.

Forget all this "respectable rival" stuff. UT and many of their fans threw that away 10+ years ago. Dooley might be an alirght guy, that sucks for him, but I don't see them competing for anything of worth for years. At least not until Saban and Meyer retire.

You said it. Great reply.

Now there's a thought. Say Dooley brings UT back quicker than people expect, then jumps ship for a better job...:)
A winning Tennessee program is one of the best jobs in college football. Lets face it, whatever teams are competing for SEC championships are some of the best coaching jobs in the country.

Richt's successor @ Dad's old gig? Hmmm...;)
Possible, not sure I would consider that a better job than UT.

I agree with you Vol. Let's say UGA has a bad season like 6-6 or something and Richt is gone at the end of the year. Dooley won't do a Kiffin and go to UGA. He has too much integrity. Moving to UGA at any time is at best a lateral move-if that. If Dooley starts winning at UT, which will take some time with the rebuilding he will have to do, and UGA starts to stumble, why move, have to rebuild a program again, when he is at a good one taking it in a good direction? That would not make sense.

Georgia is a way better job that Tennessee..Georgia has a great in-state recruiting base..If they can keep the in-state elite recruits from going out of state..They could dominate..I've never understood how Georgia doesn't have more NC's..JMO

I don't feel bad for Dooley. He CHOSE that job. He was not forced into at gun point. As dumb as I am I knew what he would be getting into, I am sure he did too.

I think you answered your own question. They have never established a program that can keep its recruits in state, so they lose them. Tennessee is far removed from the talent centers of their own state. If you went on the access to talent alone, Tennessee would be at best historically a middle level program in the SEC. Tennessee built a stronger program than UGA in years past.

Once Dooley gets familiar with the level of ethics the UT brass operate under, he may well be hoping for a better job.

I know the UT fans have a hard time accepting it, but their program may reduced to a "stepping stone" type job. Just look how Kiffin parlayed working at UT into a better job.

Kiffin would have left for USC or the NFL regardless of what school he was coaching at.
