Roll Tide and it's great to be 9 - 0

I am ready to see this team go to the next level.

I have a question for the board. Try not to give answers like. Score more points than LSU :), or
Coach Shula will put the best game plan in... ETC. :p

The question is two-fold...

1) Will we see a more open offense. (i.e. Wrinkles, halfback passes, SC at WR, Triple Option :eek2: ) The basic concept of this question is do we pull out all the stops?

---- I expect a "One Game Season" type playcalling.

2) Defense. Does Coach Kines, play it solid, bend, don't break, field position, don't give up the big play or does he pin the "D's" ears back so to speak and try to confuse and cause the TO, risking giving up the big play?

---- I expect the "PIN EM BACK BOYS type play.

I know we are all fan's and our opinions don't set the gameplan, but it's fun to speculate and debate.

Oh and a 3rd bonus question. No extra points given

3) Will the BDS crowd show up like Florida or will we be more UTHUG, loud but somewhat withdrawn.

What do you think?!?

1) I think we will see more quick-out short passes, and plays to the sides. Basically a "once in a season" offense scheme. Shula has tried it before in big games and kept us close then, this time a win.

2) Expect ears to be pinned back about half the plays, lots of stunting ans shifting looks.

3) Thunderous!

I think our defence will continue doing their job, Kines will devise a defence that will shut down LSU and keep our offence in the game. LSU's offence has been very shakey this year, and seem like a first half team.

I think our offence will get the job done, Brodie knew that he didn't have to play 100% the last 2 games he just got a little frustrated last game b/c he couldnt' find the endzone. I think our offence has the ability to play play with their competition, and that would explain the slack preformance against Tenn, Ole Miss and Miss St. I'm sure the team knows this is a HUGE game and will show it on the field, expect those long passes that Brodie has been missing by 1 step to fall into the hands of Hall, Brown and Cadell, expect those dropped passes to be held onto, and expect an offence that will make the media think twice about counting us out of a nat'l championship spot.

I believe the crowd will show up. THis isn't a Tenn team that has beaten us 9 out of the last 11 years, we won't be bitting our nails on the edge of our seat, we will be standing tall yelling loud and singing Ramma Jamma come the 3rd quarter.

I think Bama sticks with the same look we've seen over the past several weeks. The lack of points has not been due to play calling, but execution. Had our execution been better, we would have put at least 20 up on OM and TEN, and at least 27+ on MSU. Might see a few more screens and draws then normal if LSU D is getting too much pressure too soon.

I think Kines will come out in a 4-3 base with the Corners paying a tight man coverage. Our LB's are fast enough to get RB's on the corner, gap-sound enough to close lanes down up the middle. I only see Kines getting more agressive, if we can't get pressure on Russel, and he starts picking the secondary apart in the passing game. No need to chance giving up a big play, as 1TD could decide the game. Play sound until they prove they can move the ball on you.

I expect the crowd (of which I will be a part of) to be as loud, if not louder than the FLA game. If it becomes obvious that the crowd noise is a problem for the LSU offense, the crowd will get even louder. If we can force them to some early outs, and we can get some pts on the board early, the crowd will rock all game long.

We will open up our offense in a sense that we will not run up the gut as often. You will see more passes on first down and quick hitters to negate their blitzing. A series or two with Johns at QB rolling out as a run pass threat sounds like a great wrinkle to me, or Johns throwing a HB pass.

I believe our Defense will play to the game enviroment. If we devlop a 10 point lead we wont bring the house but if are defense needs to make a play look for some very aggressive blitzing. Kind of like the UF game started off very aggressive and ran more base as the lead increased.

As far as the crowd the players said it best. It is the fans job to come to the game fired up and its the teams job to keep the fans fired up during the game. To most fans their are not many opportunities to get "fired up" in a 6-3 ball game. Where as it seems easy to get fired up in a 31-3 game. I am just as loud either way but to most big plays= big noise

I look for the offense to play consevative and let the defense win this game. Blitzing will happen but on in certain situations that favor a good outcome for us. You will see the deep ball and slants to our wideouts. We NEED to get Walker the ball!

I kinda expect to see about what we saw against Florida. We rattle Russell early, make him screw up because we know he will, get a long strike down the field early and shut them down the rest of the game. If we take the wind out of their sails early, we will blow them out. If we hang with them the whole game, it'll be another nail biter. The difference this year is that we will find ways to win the ball game if it comes down to the wire. I'd like to jump out by 2 TD's and put it on cruise control for 3 quarters. I do expect us to attack them deep on the first offensive play of the game and, if we connect, watch out!!! I hope it happens that way anyway. On defense, I think we mix it up, confuse Russell early and get him rattled. If we do that, I don't know that they'll score on us. The crowd will be hoppin. I won't be there, but those who will, yall be loud for us folks who are unfortunate enough to have beautiful women, recliners, beer and food to watch the game with in the A/C (or heat if it's cold) and my sweet baby girl, dressed in her Bama cheerleader outfit, laughing everytime I say Roll Tide. We'll be thankin boutchee!!!

If Bama has been holding anything back on offense, this weekend is the weekend to show it. We need to try to win, not to play to keep from getting beat.
I think we have playmakers, let's use them.
I think we win the game, but if we depend on the defense entirely, we lose.
Having said all that, we win, Roll Tide :)

Darby

Don't forget that LSU allowed Auburn's Kenny Irons to run for over 200 yards on them...in Baton Rouge. Irons is a great back...but I'd take Darby any day. I think the key for this weekend is Darby. LSU knew that Irons was going to run...but they were still unable to stop him. Auburn just had terrible play calling in that game. So my game plan calls for more running than passing this weekend. Expose that overrated LSU defense!!!

A few different wrinkles

1. I would almost expect us to stay in a 2-tight-end formation a lot (one on either side of the tackles) to help blocking. DE's have been running around our tackles with alarcity lately. Hence, few if any passes to the TE. If we don't give our tackles some help, Brodie will be running for his life. Also expect the back to stay in for blocking against the rush up the middle. It will be important for our wideouts to get open and hang on to the ball.

2. I expect the defense to play as normal (dominating). We will give up 1 long TD drive in the 1st half, then hold them to 1 or 2 field goals after that.

3. I believe the crowd will be more like the UT game. Everybody will be nervous most of the game.

OFFENSE:

When we run, i expect it to be up the middle. You can't run east-west on LSU. LSU knows this and will probably bring pressure on 1st down to stuff the run so I think you'll see alot of quick passes/screens/draws and occasional play-action on first down. If we have success with that, LSU will have to back off a little and then you'll see us run more on first down to create balance. If we don't have 1st down success, then your going to see ALOT of running as we play for field position and try to help our defense out. 1st down is the key for us offensively, I believe.

DEFENSE:

We need to knock J Russell around early. If we get a lead early, then we we can tee off on this guy and he'll make mistakes. I think conservative play on 1st down to control the run and put them in 2nd and 6 or more is key. If we create the thought in their minds that a poor 1st down play is going to be a drive killer then we can force bad decisions on his part.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Wrap Skyler Green up. Wrap that guy in shrink wrap. He can change the game in one play and if we don't control him every single time then we could leasily lose this game.

COACHING:

Most here(Oklahoma) agree that les Miles won at Ok St with someone else's talent and that once you look in-depth at who he beat and when, his tenure here really wasn't that impressive. That program is now is a state of pure chaos. I feel very confident that we will the 2nd half as we have excelled all year at halftime adjustments and 3rd quarter play.

If we are ahead or within 7 at the half, I love our chances. Down by more than 7 at the half and we could still win but the LSU would have a big advantage to be sure.

1}-i think that we wont see anything crazy..we should kno by now that our coaching staff isnt the kind of staff thats just gonna come out w/ sim castille at receiver or the triple option....there is no chance in hell that brodie croyle runs the option....no chance in hell....i could see jimmy johns doing it tho...but i dont think that will happen either...i think we will see an offense close to the offense that played florida earlier this year....i think we will take a few deep shots and maybe brodie will get one within a 10 yard radius of the receiver this time..why has he been overthrowing everything lately? its not the brodie that i kno....the offense will be a balanced attack with a few deep shots to try to take the momentum away from LSU early.. i think that its VERY important for us to get a deep ball early in this game....it would get the offenses confidence back at least for this game and would be the difference in a 24-7 type win and a 9-6 type win...if our offense played like they played against florida....the score will be closer to ..?....45-10...i also think its important to keep the LSU defense honest by killing their blitz early with screens and draws...KD is deadly on draws.

2}-i think the defense will be balanced between the "pin em back" and the "dont giv up the big play".........i think coach kines will wait and see what kind of pressure the front 4 can put on Jamarcus Russell and if the front 4 cant do anything then i see him sendin a bunch of blitzes....its very important to rattle Russell early and get him out of sync.

3}-i beleive the crowd will show up more than it did for the florida game and more than tennessee this game might not bring in as much emotional passion as tennessee...but the crowd will kno how big this game is ..this is the biggest game of the year until next weekend.....i think it will insanely loud.....gameday being on campus will only help to pump up the crowd

The play-calling sucked in the second half of the MSU game. After Alabama got those two non-offensive TDs, Shula stopped trying. You can't call running on first and second and then being forced into an obvious passing down on third and long a particularly great example of play-calling. Heck, Shula didn't even elect to pass on many of those third and long plays; he called a butt load of draws. I think Shula scaled the offense back in the second half because he knew MSU's defense was the only way they were going to get back into the game. The first half was a great example of lack of execution: lots of yards but not a lot of points to show for it. Focusing on executing inside the opponent's territory has to be Shula's focus in practice this week.

Basically, I think our offensive woes are a combination of sketchy play-calling at times and lack of execution on the other side of the 50. I don't think Shula attacked MSU's secondary down field very well in the first half. We need to go for the endzone more often when we get towards the opponent's 30 yard line. Shula's tendencies to do a short pass on first down is horribly predictable...try catching the defense sneaking their pass coverage towards the flats and inside the first down marker and go over the top for once (Croyle will probably see single coverage). Maybe Shula doesn't trust the offensive line to set up the play, but we might want to use some screens to the HB to keep the pass rush honest.

Keep in mind that the Barn had an offensive line for that game. We don't.

LOL about Brodie, I never expected him to run the option, note the :eek2:

Thanks everyone for the replies.
