This is the first time MSU has EVER been ranked this highly in football in their entire history.

In their entire history, they have only been ranked in the top ten for a TOTAL of TEN WEEKS. Only once - 1940 - has MSU ever ended the year in the top ten.

This is a team with a total of ONE SEC title (1941, clinched the day before Pearl Harbor was attacked).

Tulane has won THREE TIMES as many SEC titles as MSU - which is amazing given the fact Tulane has been out of the conference for fifty years now. Ga Tech has FIVE TIMES as many and they too have been gone for fifty years.

An argument can be made that MSU is not that much better than Vandy historically. They've been awful.
