Only tangentially related, but this is why I'm in favor of a collegiate players union, negotiating with a committee of College Presidents. The resulting contract would come under the authority of the NLRB, which has all kinds of subpoena power, including over financial records.
And if you lie to or try to mislead the NLRB, that very act carries a far greater punishment than whatever you might have been trying to cover up.
Yes, the idea has some downsides. But it beats the current situation hands down. If there's a better solution out there, I'm all ears.

I couldn't find the link but there is a new article by the AJC claiming that in their words, the Georgia football program is out of control. The speeding and street racing is even worse than we thought. Kirby has coached about 350 kids since being hired. There have been 300 vehicle violations issued to players, most of these are in the minor category but 60 speeding, many 30, 40 mph over the limit, some at over 100 mph. Also new info on the fixer, Gantt. Hundreds of texts between himself and the police and some with him offering tickets to court officials. Here in Atlanta the media is claiming this is a nationwide problem at colleges. Is it? I don't know. Tidefan members are everywhere, I am curious to know if it is. Perspective is everything here, is it happening in t-town, Gainesville, auburn, Austin and the like. Kirby has got to clean this up, which is easy for me to say I know, the solution here may be harsh but needs to be done. Unless winning means everything to Kirby, no more stadium steps or laps. Show em the door and wish them luck at their new school.
