He'll still be rich, but I do wonder how many millions he's may lose if the Bears and other teams pass on him. He's somewhat lucky this came out now, and it is misdemeanors, because there's enough time between now and the draft for time and his agent to sooth this over.

No, this isn't getting "soothed over." He's going to drop like a freaking rock. Probably to the bottom of the first round, at least. Won't matter, he'll still make a lot of money and may have a good career. May be a great kid who made a mistake; I'm not judging. But on THIS particular thing, it's going to cost him. Warren Sapp dropped for smoking weed. He won't be drafted top five like he would've been if the draft had happened 24 hours ago.

Would he have been charged with only misdemeanors if he had stayed at the scene and failed a sobriety test?

Completely different time in our society. I'm not saying the guy won't drop, I'm just saying what is being reported of his involvement doesn't absolutely mean he's dropping. Also, it's March 1st, and the draft isn't until the end of April. Plenty of time for him and his agent to "give their side" and make an attempt to mitigate any potential draft damage.

As a Bears fan, my non-trade preference was 1A: Will Anderson 1B: Jalen Carter and 1C: Tyree Wilson. After this story, he's not a hard no but Carter just went down my draft board. The Bears (like most NFL teams) are looking for not just talented young players but people of characters. Jalen Carter just proved he needs more time. The Bears cannot afford to be drafting this high and take a player with as many ??? as Carter.

Yep, completely get that, and very correct. But as you know, winning is priority number 1, 2 and 3 in the NFL and there are desperate teams in the top 10 (beginning at pick 6) who would draft him if the right things were said by Carter's team in the pre-draft interviews.

Might be a different time, but it is REALLY going to depend on what his story is, how this plays out. He has about a month and a half. If, IF they were street racing... not good.
