Man, that is a tough weekend in Baton Rouge. Lost all 3 games by one run- really should have one 2 of the 3. Record is 40-10 but they may be in danger of falling out of the top 10. 7 of the 10 losses have been by one run. Coach Murphy does not have the home run power he has had in the past- young team has not learned how to win the close games- either win comfortably or find a way to lose by one run.
Really need to sweep Kentucky or they may not get to host a Super Regional- believe you need to be a top 8 seed.

When was the last time Alabama softball has been swept 3 straight games by anyone? It has been a long, long time. 2 errors in the 6th killed them today.
 
I don't see this team making it to the CWS this year unless they are host for regional & super regionals with favorable match-ups. Pitching has taken a step back this year and we just don't seem to get the timely hit that we have gotten in the past.
 
I just wanted to update this thread. The girls just beat TX A&M 10-9 last night in the first round of the SEC tourney in Kentucky. This is a single elimination tourney so TAMU goes home.
Late last night KY played against USCe. I didn't stay up to watch that game.
The Bama girls move on to Round 2 which is btw this morning. They play against Florida at 10:00AM this morning. The game will be televised on ESPNU. I'm going to be taking care of some business this morning but I've set it to record on my DVR.
Those who missed last night's game missed a real thriller of a game.
It saddens me to see so little coverage here on TF of our softball team this year. The ladies won the NCAA softball National Championship last year and deserve our support just as much now as they did then.

I've been wondering that too. She hasn't been the same this year, and is giving up a lot of runs, especially later in games. She was pitching with a sleeve on her arm yesterday. Maybe she's just overworked. She went thru all of last year, then some summer stuff etc. Hopefully she just needs some rest. Of course, we just aren't getting timely hitting like we did last year either. I'm hoping we at least get a regional, but I don't see getting a Super. Krymsonman
 
I think Murphy got outcoached today..when the gators pulled there starting pitcher after Bama's big inning I would have done the same if I were Murphy, I would have pulled Jury. Give them a different pitcher to look at, as Florida batters were no starting their third look at Jury. She wasn't overpowering and was missing pitches when she got ahead in the count. That's really my only complaint with Murphy over the years..he leaves his pitchers in too long when they are constantly in trouble.
 
Well I finally got to watch the (DVR'd) UA/UF game. I was disappointed in the final score, but not really surprised. UF has a really good team this year and they are well coached.
No negative comments from me on this year's team. It took Coach Murphy a lot of time and hard work to recruit and coach up last year's team to the point of winning a NC title. We lost a number of great players from last year's team, but that's the world of college sports. Once again, Coach Murphy has a lot of work ahead of him. I have faith that he'll get it done again. Not this year, and maybe not next year either.
But history shows he'll get it done.

La La just eliminated LSU! Beat them 3-0 and then 1-0.

Good luck in Knoxville this weekend! I'm hoping the game will be telecast here in the Tidewater area of Virginia. Last weekend we were subjected to a steady stream of aTm softball... :eek:
