According to another tweet below this it was cleared out & closed Sunday, but still... smdh.
Can we just start arresting people who do this and force them into quarantine together? Break the social distancing rules, you get collected and brought to a warehouse where you must fester with all of your other idiot freaks. If one has it, you can all get it and help us test that whole herd immunity thing.

FIFY

People did not take it seriously because the president did not take it seriously. The effect lingers.
Got to disagree somewhat on this. Yes, some people do seem to base their life decisions on the president.
However, people have outlets to the new/info. that doesn't come through his mouth. I feel like most people don't take it seriously because they are arrogant, self serving, me first types and it has nothing to do with the prez. although they do sound like one and the same. On the other hand you may be right and we may have become Trumpified.

For a large chunk of the population info from Trump's mouth and their new outlets is one and the same.

For the people who didn't take this seriously it is a self reinforcing problem.

1. If you believe DJT there is no COVID.
2. If you believe DJT all news is fake news except that which comes out of his mouth.
3. If you want to get more information about COVID, there are no other sources except DJT.
4. GoTo 1

I don't have the actual statistics but it is likely that the percentage of people who chose to ignore COVID is less than or equal to the number of people who still support DJT.

Some scary stuff in there:

I am an ER MD in New Orleans. Class of 98. Every one of my colleagues have now seen several hundred Covid 19 patients and this is what I think I know.

Clinical course is predictable. 2-11 days after exposure (day 5 on average) flu like symptoms start. Common are fever, headache, dry cough, myalgias(back pain), nausea without vomiting, abdominal discomfort with some diarrhea, loss of smell, anorexia, fatigue.

Day 5 of symptoms- increased SOB, and bilateral viral pneumonia from direct viral damage to lung parenchyma.

Day 10- Cytokine storm leading to acute ARDS and multiorgan failure. You can literally watch it happen in a matter of hours.

81% mild symptoms, 14% severe symptoms requiring hospitalization, 5% critical.

I had never discharged multifocal pneumonia before. Now I personally do it 12-15 times a shift. 2 weeks ago we were admitting anyone who needed supplemental oxygen. Now we are discharging with oxygen if the patient is comfortable and oxygenating above 92% on nasal cannula. We have contracted with a company that sends a paramedic to their home twice daily to check on them and record a pulse ox. We know many of these patients will bounce back but if it saves a bed for a day we have accomplished something. Obviously we are fearful some won't make it back.

worldwide 86% of covid 19 patients that go on a vent die. Seattle reporting 70%. Our hospital has had 5 deaths and one patient who was extubated. Extubation happens on day 10 per the Chinese and day 11 per Seattle.

It bothers me that he recognized the cytokine storm by the elevated ferritin and CRP, but he doesn't mention Anakinra as an emergency treatment. If anyone hasn't read Tony's post of the UAB doctor's explanation of the CSS and the treatment for it "it was magical." He ends his article with the quote to the effect that it will be success when people no longer have to call him to ask about it. Here's a link back to the UAB doctor's article...

I think that healthcare workers are running so hard for so long that they have very little time to research better treatment options. Then you have so much data out there, some of which contradicts other data, and you end up here.

Can you imagine the disaster this would have been under Obama, Clinton or god forbid Joe Biden???

Yup, I can. A much better handled disaster. The bar is so low for better handled you could keep going down your list of “scary” names & probably never make it to one that wouldn’t have handled it better to this point.
