I don't see Tony making the jump.Great news. Now, what about Mitchell?
These "announcements" always crack me up. Of course he'll be back unless he's just quitting basketball altogether. What else was he going to do next year? There are about 200 better college players than him, not to mention adding in the foreigners and the few high school phenoms that go to the NBA each year. Does he think that we thought he might declare for the draft or something? I watch a lot of college basketball, and although he's a good role player, he's not NBA talent at this time. He could develop into one with a lot of hard work and a great senior year. Keep on Rolling with the Tide Mr. Green. Enjoy basketball while you can.
Players cannot enter the NBA draft until they have been out of high school for one year. These "announcements" always crack me up. You're Killing Me! He could make 6 figure money playing Basketball overseas if he wanted to. This is major news. This tells me that he wants to be here. That's big. We haven't had a 1st team ALL SEC player come back for a Senior Year in several years. Dudley was the last -- and of all, he's the one that should have gone. That means Coach Grant got to him. It also tells me that Coach Grant isn't going anywhere.
200 players BETTER than him? Do you watch much basketball? There aren't 4 better than him in the SEC.......
Enjoy the announcement -- don't underestimate the importance of this announcement for the future of our team. It gives us a 17-20 ppg scorer next year -- those don't grow on trees.

I do not think that J. Green is in the top 3 in the SEC, either this year or next year but I do agree that there aren't 200 players that are eligible for the draft that are better than him. I would say that he is in the top 100 and if he works hard enough he could be in the top 50 next year.
1st Team ALL SEC
9th in Scoring
4th in Rebounding
9th in Field Goal Percent
10th in Free Throw Percent
7th in Steals
5th in Blocked Shots
I'm open for you to find 3 guys with better numbers -- I can't find any
Basketball Statistical Leaders
I love Mitchell - but Tony disappears from games -- Jamychal never disappears -- We need him next year.
If the Coaches voted him 1st team -- and he's in the TOP 10 for ever major statistic in the SEC except Assists, as a Big Man -- I'm not sure what your problem with him is.....
I think everybody on the board is thrilled that Jamychal is coming back and we love that he wears the Crimson and White.
What I think most people would contest is the thought that he's ready for the NBA. True, he is one of the best post players in the SEC (probably top five), but he's got to beat out a lot more than SEC players if he wants to make it in the league.
If you look at premiere post players across the landscape of the college scene - and I'm going strictly by watching them play and not stats b/c I don't have those in front of me - he could use another year at the college level.... it could be a multi-million dollar choice that appears pretty obvious to most people.
If Green works his tail off in the offseason, the sky could be the limit for the young man and I (all Tide fans) hope he blows up next season and puts the team on his back and works himself into a sure-fire first round selection and possible lottery pick. That would mean the team does very well and goes deep into the tournament, while Green improves his personal draft stock.
I do think the reason why some players make these types of announcements is to get their names out there. Also, it helps the program with stability and recruiting and shows the rest of the team that he's totally invested.
The fact is that he is someone that can put the ball in the basket and rebound consistently. Add a "True Center" and we have another threat on the court.
