Or at least I guess the coach is answerable to the Board of Regents.

No flame, but I will admit he never got the respect he deserved while he was here.

I love Gene Stallings, but IMO he knew what he was doing when he retired after the 1996 season.

I always thought Coach Stallings was a class guy...and a great coach. Back when we were going through the Jelks-Langham mess, I sent him a letter of support. He surprised me by answering with a personal note saying that he used to "roughneck" out of Morgan City in the summertime when he was in college. Now, if I could only find that letter......

Life has such a beautiful sense of irony sometimes. Stallings has made no secret about the fact that he cares little for Franny on a local sports talk show on which he has been a regular (which shall remain nameless). Even though I know there are a number of regents on the board, who do you think they will defer to in matters of football? Wonder how many of the other folks on the board have championship rings? :) Fire the sniveling little liar, Coach!!!

To my surprise, I heard that Coach Stallings sits on several boards, the AM Board of Regents just being one of them. He commands great respect from alot of important people, especially out in Texas. I guess it surprises me because, even though I absolutely love Coach GS, he never struck me as a very organized person with alot of business acumen. Obviously, I was very wrong. Maybe we SHOULD consider him for AD when Mal retires.

He is a man ... pure and simple

Coach Stallings has a map of the world etched upon his face. He's seen it all, and little on a football field is going to suprise him. Stallings is the kind of man that when he walks into a room you want to stand up; he does not merely command respect, it just naturally follows him.
