After seeing that in this morning's early morning read through, I think it is safe to say, DABO aint ever coming "home" to mama with that buyout. So we can all relax when Coach decides to hang up his practice hat and go fishing.
Well, I'm a #neverawwshucks guy but those buyouts are if they are fired. Each contract is different - there might be a much smaller / non-existent payment due the school if the coach chooses to leave.

Pat Forde yesterday on SI.com re the Auburn coaching search:

”Auburn is a good job and can land a good coach, as it has many times in the past. But this thing is off to a classic Auburn start, with everyone and no one in charge. One industry source summed it up this way Monday night: “The search firm doesn’t even know exactly where it stands.”

Anyone think that Steele is being rumored to take over as the head coach is simply a move to dupe the recruits into staying? They know Steele and would think that not much would change. Then, after signing day, the bait and switch as they begin their real coaching search?

That's the prevalent theory from Aubrun fans right now. Not sure if it's accurate or whistling past the graveyard - really hoping it's the latter... :)

I’m sure it is. I mean... it has to be, right?

On another note, I don’t get the issue with Jimmy Sexton. He’s not forcing anyone into anything. The real issue is with these stupid ADs that allow these nonsensical contracts.

it seems the general consensus on Twitter from the usual Auburn suspects (more than one) that Mario Cristobal is the next coach at Auburn. But they're also in the "but if he doesn't come, whom do you want" mode.

But I guess I don't quite get the desire for Mario. Yeah, he's 24-9......against a bunch of nobodies, mostly with losing records. Okay, he's 3-1 against teams that were ranked at the end of the year, but:
a) one of those, the 2018 win over Washington, was an out and out fluke
b) yeah, he beat #5 Utah, who then got clobbered even worse by Texas

Not sure I get the "he's the potential savior" talk with Cristobal.

The question is - can Cristobal beat Saban? I don't see it.

Has Gus leaving helped Auburn recruiting today?
Considering where they were ranked, I guess whoever is pulling the strings didn't think it would matter.

But, since they didn't name a replacement before signing day smells of a cow patty.

If you were getting Mario or Freeze or whoever, you would have named them BEFORE signing day OR else you don't fire Gus until afterward.

Obviously, something went wrong.
