Because someone out there is stupid enough to bet on them. Why on earth are Billy Napier, Mario Cristobal, and Brent Venables on that list lol? Why would any of them even think about leaving the jobs they just took for Auburn?

True, but was Sankey commissioner then? That didn't stop Mullen...![]()
Yes he was.True, but was Sankey commissioner then?
Well another issue is that Harsin is out of the country until tonight. I would expect a decision made by tomorrow since there is a SEC coaches meeting Thursday. Right now they are most likely continuing their discussions on numbers and applying pressure on Harsin to accept a number. As each hour goes by with no resolution to this, the more stupid and discombobulated Auburn looks. Yesterday’s statement release by them I thought was a total farce and just dug the hole deeper for them. Otoh Harsin has maintained the high ground and has played it all perfectly. This may turn into Jetgate 2.0.
I think Kiffin has a dream about following Saban when he retires……. He wants the job and is not afraid to follow the GoatNo way I see Kiffin going to Auburn. Kiffin is too full of Alabama (even to this day) to coach at the Barn. He has CNS on a pedestal and rightfully so.
Plus, why would he want to subject himself to that circus in Lee County when he's got it pretty good at OM? And, if he continues to do well there, he'll land somewhere much better than Auburn anyway.
Can’t decide which adversarial party would be better served if one of the parties tested positive for Kung Flu prior to international departure and was denied re-entry to his ultimate destination West Georgia—Well another issue is that Harsin is out of the country until tonight. And no this isnt even comparable to Jetgate. This isnt just a few rogue actors this is whole bunch of them.
Any "big name"coach (and there aren't any currently available) isn't going to set foot into that mess at any dollar amount.Who might the University of Auburn hire to replace Harsin? I've not a clue. I don't even try to guess any more. But if money is no object for them, which appears to be the case, then I guess a lot of the "big" names they've thrown out there could go for the $$ if there's enough. They don't even have to win much. Just get that contract and your financial troubles are over, win OR lose. My word! What a clown show in Lee County.
There was a lot more than "a few rogue actors" on that jet. Auburn's president, William Walker and Athletic Director David Housel were along for the ride with Lowder.Well another issue is that Harsin is out of the country until tonight. Great point; apparently Harsin had requested guidance of his budget for hiring staff and what pool of money he had to work with. And got no answers. Maybe Mason saw the writing on the wall and left because he did not know if he would have a job or who he might be working for? As opposed to leaving BECAUSE of Harsin? Sounds like this coup has been in the works; probably since the loss to Houston. And; the, apparently, fabricated HR problem put it into high ( or Hugh?) gear. So, I was thinking, did Harsin's coordinators leave because of HIM, or do you think that the Boosters had a hand it? Maybe the boosters wouldn't give the coaches the freedom to coach like they needed to.
He needs to do two things to have a chance IMO:I think Kiffin has a dream about following Saban when he retires……. He wants the job and is not afraid to follow the Goat
Yeah , those are important……… with the right team of assistants and recruits, he could possibly do itHe needs to do two things to have a chance IMO:
1. Keep his nose clean and keep maturing as a man and coach
2. At some point win bigger than he has (an SECC would be a start)
Given the fact that Brian Harsin was the best that they could get last year, I wouldn't think that anyone better would go to Auburn. I am pretty sure that the word is out on how hard it is to coach down there.Who might the University of Auburn hire to replace Harsin? I've not a clue. I don't even try to guess any more. This just gets better and better. So, is the fact that it has taken so long an indication that they've even managed to botch the firing?
