I only disagree on one point - given a choice between:My point is that Auburn rather lose to Alabama and Georgia than be made fun of by both for hiring a known escort service man to beat them. Auburn is more concerned by winning the victim hood argument than winning on football field. Just name every coach they have hired since Shug stepped down and tell me how many were seen as home run hires from the outset. With the exception of Gus and perhaps Dye (I would have to ask @selmaborntidefan on this one) no Auburn coach was seen as a massive upgrade from their predecessor on day 1 or really seen as a potential problem for Alabama or Georgia. They have been in a large part boring fit hires.
a) beating Alabama and UGA with a guy who years ago consulted escort services
b) a guy going 8-4 (their usual) and losing both but being a good guy
they're going to pick the sleaze ball every time.
As a reminder: these folks called Bobby Petrino only about eight months after his Evel Knievel act when they hired Malzahn. Now I always figured Gus was going to get the call anyway - but why would you even TALK to Bobby Petrino in 2012?
