Give Herb all the credit now if you like, as the Barn has found ways to win the close games that any team trying to win it all has to do during a season. Herb also just stated Boise State should be in the BCS Championship Game "because they can play with anyone." I think most people believe they are a good team but not a team that can compete in the SEC week end and week out (in any given year) against a league that will beat down and break your play down as well. Pick any lower level team in the SEC for their season schedule and they probably will lose three games. Give the SEC teams their schedule and over half the teams if not all are in the BCS. With Auburn playing well, this is a great year for the Iron Bowl to be in T-Town and is giving our young players great incentives to get better in practices and games. Coaches in any sport worth their salt love to coach hungry gifted players. Most of us knew from last season and the beginning of this season that we are a very young but talented team especially on defense and will be a much better team at the end of the season baring any major injury bugs. So take care of the teams ahead of us one game at a time and finish beating the Barn in our house, win the SEC Championship against the Gamecocks, and then slam Herb's and other's powerhouse Boise State Team for the National Championship. The only thing better is winning it in a Bowl Game play off system. Either way, not bad for a reloading 2010 season. :BigA: Roll Tide Roll

Here's an actual quote from Herbstreit that I remember well:

"I'm going to predict a big win for Florida today."

This was before the kickoff in the Swamp in 1999 when we beat the Gators in overtime.

Guesses are free and plentiful.

Over the years, he has made a lot of "guesses", and on national television. He is right a lot more often than he is wrong. He isn't one of those guys that just throws stuff out there - he offers sound rationale for his predictions.

Is he always right? No. But he is right more often than anyone else in the business right now.

Now, if we could only find a way to get him to ignore his bias for his school. :conf3:

Word of caution, key on Cam Newton and he will hand off to a couple of capable backs who torched LSU for over 200 yds between them.
Agree completely. The people who say Auburn is just Cam Newton and no one else on the team has not watched them. They have some play makers on the offensive side of the ball to go with him.

Their D on the other hand is shaky at best. They have been able to do just enough to win though and that is all they have to do when you have a offense that can score like they can.

Every team who plays them is going to be in for a war.

I'm impressed with Auburn's O-Line! They're opening holes for Newton and the RBs, and keeping the opposing D away from Newton. IMO they're not a one-trick pony.

I agree Bayou. Fig Newton IS the real deal and he plays for our worst enemy. We have to take this guy seriously or we're gonna get played like Utah played us in the Sugar Bowl.
I'd like to get folks opinion on how we stop him AND those other Barn backs you mentioned. I'd love to be inside Malzahn's head to see what he's got cooked up for us.

Play him like we played Tebow, keep him in front of you, stay in your lanes. Works for when he sticks it in his back's belly, whether he takes it back or not. He's not superman. But he doesn't have to torch you for 175 yds. either. We have the personnel to do that.

Cam Newton is a heckuva an athlete, as for QB......well....the jury is still out. If Bama puts either Nico Johnson or maybe CJ Mosley to spy on Cam to make sure he doesn't run, I think Auburn's offense becomes stagnant. I'd make Cam beat us with the pass (which he won't do, because he just doesn't have that skillset, yet).

I am going on record and say Cam Newton will have his worst game of his career against Bama.

I hope you rright. I saw him make a few decent passes against LSU.

I actually think LSU had the correct formula to beat auburn, at least at first. Long sustained drives! The only problem was their quarterbacks couldn't score once they got down there. Keep Newton off the field by owning time of possession. I think we can do that but our ofense has been up and down. It will be a fun game to watch.
