I know Bama has always been about "team" but over the years there has to be certain players who made all the difference to the success of their team.

In your opinion...who was that player?

Derrick Thomas was the most dominate player I ever saw. I only saw Leroy Jordan play for the Cowboys.

Why don't you just ask what God looks like!!!

There are so many great players that stood out among other great players.

In my mind, I would say Wilbur Jackson, though. I cannot imagine what he had to go through. I would argue that Wilbur may not have had the stats that some of the greater players had, but he paved the way for a new era at Bama. So he gets my vote.

Great question and one of the first that pops into my head is Al Bell on that 85 team- besides his amazing catches in the incredible wins that year over UGA and the Barn, he seemed to always catch for a first down when we really needed it- Both he and Shula dropped off a bit statistically in 86 but I always think of 85 as one of my favorite teams and Bell as a favorite player growing up.

I lived next door to Wilbur & you are dead on right.
Thank God those days are gone!

But to me I really think that question is why we never had. Heisman winner before Mark, it has always been about the Team at Alabama & you know some of the Greatest Hero's may have made that one play just at the right time.

But like the TEAM we have today, they were always ready!

From my understanding Kenny Stabler to the 1966 - 1967 teams was probably the most valuable, but that is just what I was told by one of my oldest uncles who was at Alabama during that time period. In my life time, I would have to say Shaun Alexander from 1998-1999.
