Good game today, I felt like we shoulda been up by more, but you guys hung around and had me nervous down to the end. I think with you guys being able to fill all your scholies and everything now you will be a team on the rise. Anyways, I said before the game that I would be back win or lose to see what you guys thought about our RB's compared to Auburn's. In one of my previous posts I stated that I thought ours were better, but Auburn's got the hype because they were undefeated. Does anyone agree, or was it a different style than you guys are used to, or just a bad performance by the defense? I'm really not trying to be a jerk or rub anything in, I really am curious how you feel the duos compare because I don't feel that Minnesota gets the respect they deserve in that area.

Personally I think Auburn's guys are better. But then I haven't seen you guys but once. And judging by today, your line holds on nearly every play.

I think they were physical enought they didn't have to do that. However, we get crapped on by the zebras regularly.

I'm more impressed with Minnesota's O-line. They opened holes today that I could have run through with my bum knee... at age 51...with my grandma on my back.

Barber is a good back, but I don't think he runs with the wild abandonment of Williams and Brown at Auburn.

My Opinion

They are both excellent RBs, and I would have loved to have either one of them carrying the ball for AL today. However I still think (though I hate to say it) that AU has the best pair of RBs in the country. The most impressive part of Minn to me was the O Line. They really opened some wonderful holes today. Congratulations it just proved once again that if you win the battle in the trenches you usually win the ballgame.

Aerosk, I'm in complete agreement. If your defense wasn't one of the worst against pass defense in the nation, you would have been challenging Iowa and Michigan for the Big 10 title. Your backfield in my opinion IS better than Auburn's, but as you said, get's lost in the fact that Auburn played the season undefeated and Minnesota entered their bowl with a 6-5 record. I'd compare it to a couple years ago when Troy Davis was in the midst of his consecutive 2,000 yard rushing years at Iowa St. The Cyclones were putting up abysmall records, but Davis has stellar years, but often was still just a blip on the radar screen for so many because his team wasn't nearly as good as him.

Bama's D tackled well all season,
when we got to Carnell and Brown they went down, tough but down.
We had trouble today getting Barber down,
he is obviously a better tackle-breaker than the barn guys,
and being a better tackle breaker than Brown makes him awsooooome.
Brown is a great all around ball player, run-block-catch,
it would be hard for me to call any back this year "better" than Brown.
UM O-line is even better than the barn's.
UM QB not even close to Campbell's Soup.
UM receivers don't appear as good as the barn's but with a different QB who knows.

It's hard to say, but if I had to I'd say Auburn's are the better at this point. However, both of Minnesota's guys are back next year, so they may be better in the long run.

No matter what, they were very good.

I knew coming in to today's game that we would have trouble with UM's running game, but, I still think au's backs are better. Don't know what the stats were in the second half, but I thought CJK made good adjustments at the half.

The main...

adjustment was on the toss sweep they were killing us with in the first half. Our guys started recognizing the direction of the play and doing a better job of hand-fighting off their holds. They were getting away with a lot because they were being aggressive and getting locked on first. After I saw the adjustments, I started being afraid that they would hurt us bad with the cut back and the smoke draw. I don't remember seeing but one draw. They had so much confidence in the two RBs that they stayed with the sweep, with the occasional quick opener, which we handled pretty well in the second half. Those two backs are good, but that OL is fantastic...

Minn has a good Ol

Besides that the barn is better everywhere else! One thing else....we were much more ready to play physical football vs the barn, and well we did not show up til the 4th period today.Minn is an average team and we were not much different today.

It is two different styles of offense. Minnesota has a basic smash-mouth, punish you, and run-over-you style of offense with no bells or whistles and nothing fancy, but the Barn uses the West Coast style which can also beat you with a passing attack if you shut down the run. I really prefer the Minnesota style of offense, if they had Auburn's defense to go with it!

I think from what I saw today compared to what I saw a few weeks ago with Auburn, I have to say thar the Gopher's pair of backs were better. This is the only time I've seen then play all year, but to me, they just looked more physical and at times a little faster then what I saw from Auburn. What is really scary is how young they are. They will both be back next year and I feel soory for some of the Big 10 teams that the Gopher may upset next season. ( actually, I don't really feel sorry for them b/c I'm not a Big 10 fan.)
Anyway, I had a great time at the game and it is too bad the good guys couldn't pull it off, but I am optimistis for next season.
ROLL TIDE ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!
