Someone at church saw my Bama t-shirt last week and said to me Go Tide! I looked had him with a smile and said Roll Tide! He's not familiar with Bama at all. We had a laugh when I explained to him it's Go Bama, Roll Tide! :hurray:

It actually happens here in Texas more than you would think. I usually respond with a GO BAMA! Mainly for the benefit of those around who wouldn't understand otherwise. You can't sling a cat out here without hitting a Longhorn fan so it's even more fun right now. Once they hear GO BAMA! they want to talk about the BCSCG.
We had a family of Horns fans in our home this past weekend. They were talking smack all day Saturday. They had quieted down a bit after watching Bama beat MSU into the turf. They are pretty excited about the match-up and think that Bama is a greater threat to them, with their style of play, than Florida...

It usually depends on the mood.
I usually return a hearty, Roll TIDE in response.
Lately, I've been responding with On to Victory or 13 is on the way!

Mine is usually something along the line of "Roll Tide, brother!"

Not often I run into Bama fans in Hermitage Tennessee though.

Ha! I respond the EXACT same way... "Roll TIDE, brother!" I live in Tennessee, too but closer to the line (about 14 miles north) so I get to use it quite a bit!!

Roll Tide, Brother!!

"Roll Tide" or "Yep."

Just to note: 97% of the time someone says "roll tide" to me, they are of an older generation. The term is losing popularity as a greeting and I don't think it's that big a deal.
This has not been my experience at all. I get a lot of Roll Tide's when I wear my jersey on game day or when I am wearing various gear on other days of the week. I always give a hearty Roll Tide in response. Granted, I also get some (mostly good-natured) comments from UT fans as well.

Here in Nashville it happens quite alot! Just this morning going into work I passed 5 Bama fans on their way to work. If I pass them in a vehicle I will give them a thumbs up. If I am out and I have my Bama gear on then I will give them a big Roll Tide and chit chat for a minute. One time I said Roll Tide to a guy wearing a BAMA hat and he just looked the other way. It is a good feeling seeing all of the Bama fans up here in Middle TN. I am really surprised at the amount of us up here.

I ran into a kid in the Oxford MS Wal-Mart that had on a Mountain Brook T-shirt and a Bama cap. I gave him a "Roll Tide" his response was an emphatic "I heard that"!

NY, I've been getting the same response here. They seem to worry more about BAMA's power run game than the FL spread. I think we beat FL, but I'm not sure they realize the power with which FL runs that spread. When they think spread, they think TX Tech.

Several co-workers are really excited about the prospects of playing us. Marquis Johnson's play in the end zone has them starting to ask a few questions though. One even asked me, "So that's your weakest corner?". I told him yes and smiled, to which he just shook his head.

A few years back I was in Boston and spotted a fellow Bama fan on the street about 10 yards ahead of me. I was pretty surprised to see someone wearing a Crimson Tide hat waaay up there.

Anyway, as I got closer and was about to give him a Roll Tide, I noticed that his hat actually read, Harvard Crimson.

I wonder what his response to my Roll Tide! would have been.

I don't see very many Bama fans out here in Kansas but when I do I usually give them a "Roll Tide" or comment if they are wearing a hat or shirt. Usually something like, "That's a great hat!"

When someone says RTR to me I respond back with RTR also.

I used to just do a simple head nod because you aren't used to Alabama fans in Florida. I now say "Roll Tide" right back to them. In Florida, there are more Alabama fans than you would expect.

Dude... they are all over the place in Orlando -- I'm talking EVERYWHERE!

When I was in California back in 2004, I seen a family decked out in 'Bama gear at Pier 39. Back then, though, I never said "Roll Tide" to complete strangers as I wasn't familiar with the whole RT greeting ordeal, so needless to say I didn't say anything to them (I grew up in the Aubarn area where you didn't see too many Alabama fans, especially then... plus I wasn't a 'die-hard' Alabama fan back then like I am today). But it wouldn't be the case today as I always make sure I greet a fellow 'Bama fan when I'm out and about.

And when I'm in T-Town, nothing can contain my energy...
