Well I finally cut the cable to the DirecTV ball and chain. I wanted to get a heads up on what services are out there for me to watch Alabama games on streaming services. Any input is much appreciated. Thank you!

We've had a few "how to watch Bama via streaming" posts over the last few years. Lots of opinions on what's best depending on your overall needs and price tolerance.

I suggest going to https://suppose.tv and you can select which channels you want and it will suggest a variety of packages across providers that will get you there.

I use U-Tube TV, $65.99 gets all ESPN, (except plus), SEC network, FS&2, NBCSN, CBSSN. Golf Channel, NBA tv, plus several others I don't watch. And they have about 75 other channels, most of which I don't watch. the rest are "21 premium channels". My son pays for Infinity internet, 1200 mbs download, I get about 500+ here in the lower level (basement) on WI-FI!. Pretty sweet situation!

My son has You Tube tv in Atlanta...along with 1 gigabyte internet. Works well seemingly...

My contract with AT&T U-Verse ends in December...I'll have to make a decision then...the cost isn't going to be that different from what I've seen.

YouTube TV is awesome (expensive though). You can record games and when you watch them later, you can choose to watch just the highlights. The delay seems to be less than 30 seconds. The ESPN app is garbage though and can sometimes be like 2 minutes behind the live broadcast, plus it buffers constantly (no matter how good your connection is).

Keep in mind with any streaming service you are going to be about one play behind the live broadcast. If you like being in game threads, you will know a TD or TO happens before you see it.

I’ve been considering switching to YouTube TV.

I use YouTube TV as well. I've been with them for a while, ever since it started at $40.

FYI: If you are a T-Mobile customer, sign up through the following link and you can save $10 a month for as long as you are a T-Mobile customer: T-Mobile Promotions

The feature I love best about YTTV is the unlimited DVR. You can search for your sports teams, like Alabama Football and Alabama Basketball, and it will record all the games, regardless of what channel they air on. You do not have to seek out each channel and setup different recording schedules. It does a pretty good job of extending recordings if a game runs long as well. It's not perfect but, it better then other services I have tried.

This goes for any show, not just sports teams. Say you are a huge fan of CSI New Orleans. It will record it whenever it airs on any channel on the service, not just the main CBS network. There is no way to set it to new shows only but, since you have unlimited DVR storage, who cares anyway. The only draw back to the DVR is that it only saves recordings for 9 months but, if it re-airs on any channel (and most things do), the clock starts over.

Hulu does this as well. As a matter of fact Hulu will ask you about your favorite sports teams in the preferences and it will record any game for those teams. I watched a Braves game last year and was 10 minutes into the game before I realized I was a half inning behind the game thread.

I had Youtube TV for the 2019 and 2020 seasons but it was only $49.99

I ended my subscription right after Alabama Basketball was eliminated from March Madness because the price jumped to $65 in 2021.

I'm not sure what to do for this year either?

It looks like Sling is the only provider that has the ESPN and Fox Sports channels as well as CBS and ABC for around $50-55 but I'm not sure of the quality of their streams?

I guess I could try that for a month and if it isn't that great, then just switch back to Youtube TV at the new rate.
