I believe that many LSU fans, myself included, would like to see Coach Miles stay in Baton Rouge. But, what can be done to keep him when money is obviously not a huge factor in his decision. I think that Alabama fans more than any other fan would realize that with regards to Coach Bryant. Coach Miles is in the same situation, be it a half century later, but the same situation. Coach Bryant had turned the corner at Texas A&M and I believe the fans and administration at the time really wanted him to stay. But, he felt an obligation and an opportunity to return to his alma mater and make a difference. He made that decision and I don't believe anything could have been done to change his mind. Again, I believe Coach Miles is in the same situation at this time.

There may be a slight shake up........ ;)

Wow, is Perrilloux going to outlast Miles at LSU?

Ryan Perrilloux will start at quarterback today for LSU against Tennessee in the SEC championship game.

-LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini will be introduced as Nebraska’s new football coach on Monday.

-LSU head coach Les Miles will be offered the Michigan job soon – if he has not been already – and he will decide quickly if he wants to take it or not. He has not quite decided yet. I believe he will take it because that “M” means so much to him.

Which leaves us with this. Who would have ever thought that Perrilloux would outlast Miles at LSU? Several LSU athletic department employees, including members of the football staff, said all day Friday that Pelini had already accepted the Nebraska job. No one wanted their name used, however. But trust me, he’s gone.

I look for the vols to win. LSU's coaching staff is job hunting/distracted while the vols seem to be re-energized.

But..who knows? That's why they play the game, right?

I can only express my thoughts and feelings. Personally, the excitement for the SECG is not in me this evening. I am unsure if it is the coaching situation or the loss to Arkansas last week, but the match is not lighting. I hope the players are not going through the same thing.
Honestly, I cannot blame you one bit for that.

Ever since LSU routed Notre Dame in January and Dorsey decided to return, the entire LSU fan base seemingly got geared up for the national championship game in the Superdome as almost a destiny.

And now it has essentially all fallen apart. The national championship is out of the question, and LSU may not even win the conference title. Moreover, it's effectively a definite at this point that Miles is going to Michigan, and it is already confirmed that Bo Pelini is going to Nebraska. If you had told most LSU fans at the beginning of the year that by December 1st, LSU would be out of the national championship race, perhaps not even the conference champion, all the while losing both Miles and Pelini to other schools, most would have never believed that would happen. Yet that is exactly what happened as the events unfolded.

It has certainly been a good year for your Bayou Bengals regardless of what happens tomorrow against the Vols, but I can't blame you for not having the spark. Things haven't gone as expected, and right now there is so much uncertainty that no one knows what Monday morning will bring. It's hard to get excited over a game when you know, even if you take the conference championship in a blowout in Atlanta, you will be looking for a new head coach in the next 72 hours.

I imagine that if you are an LSU fan, there has to be a lot of weird and confusing thoughts and emotions running through your head at the moment. Unfortunately, it sounds all too familiar of my experiences as an Alabama fan in the past decade.

Either way, enjoy the game. The Georgia Dome is a very nice facility.

I'd actually be surprised if ut doesn't win this one. Lsu with the loss last week and the coaching rumors can't be focused like they would like to be. If lsu did win I would have to say Miles did a god job keeping them focused.

Also, I've heard that lsu is banged up, and with 25 sr. and 17 starters leaving I bet those players are starting to dream of the pros and paychecks.

Anyway it will be fun to watch and see fulmer and miles matching witts:wink:

They should thank God everyday for their talented football teams.

I'm much more interested in how it affects their recruiting...
They (LSU) have so raised their profile over the past 5+ years under CNS and CLM that I don't think it will affect them much, IMO. I think, like kids in Alabama, that there is a sizeable core of young men in that state that grow up dreaming of playing for their state university and would go there regardless of the coaching carousel.

I think there will be a line that stretches from Red Stick to Memphis of good to great coaches salivating at the chance to work at LSU. The program has a better than 50-50 chance to come out stronger in the short and long run. I look forward to the "Coach X is winning with CLM's recruits" debates on this forum in the near future.

IMO LSU has had too many distractions this week to win the SECCG. Living in NOLA, I have heard nothing about the SECCG this week. Regarding the game, it is like LSU is not even playing this weekend... in the papers, on the news, and the general talk with fans. They have been talking about the coaching changes.... thats it! (Whether they are getting CNS or CSS)

When I do hear anything about the game and Uthug, all I hear is "we are not worried about the game, yall beat them by 3 TDs." If the LSU players are thinking this as well, watch out.

Further, LSU has been the sloppiest team this year in terms of TOs and penalities. Their wins have been mostly due to superior talent IMO. The sloppy play caught up to them in their losses, and it will not change in this game. Look for the distractions to make up the difference, because UThug is a talented team as well.

Well, let's see...

According to ESPN, they've lost their head coach and defensive coordinator. I think Matt Mauck may be out today with an injury.

I've got a wary eye on UT to win.

I just don't get your comparison of Coach Miles to Coach Bryant. The situation is similiar in only the Mama is calling aspect. Miles is not even remotely comparable to Coach Bryant. Coach Bryant was very successful before coming back to Alabama. I just don't see that with Miles. I actually think he is a bad hire for UM. Only time will tell but one thing for sure is he won't do for Michigan what Coach Bryant did for Alabama. :D

ANY - ANY - negativity affects kids of playing age in a college setting. ANY negatism. Just ask Bama players ... about how the glorious media, some of our public-negative fans, coaching changes, etc etc has affected the play by the KIDS (keyword: kids).

Most college football players are between the ages of 18 and 22. Those are NOT kids. Someone that is old enough to marry, smoke, drink, fight in the military and live on their own is certainly not a kid.

I think when you have a chance to play for a national championship it is hard to become distracted. This is a dream come true for these guys and I doubt the players will be affected all that much by it. The future is now for these kids, next year is still miles (no pun intended) away for LSU and OSU. Were it another team just preparing for a bowl with one eye to next year already it may be different. Then again a lot of it has to do with how Miles handles it/ is affected by it. As we have seen in the past Les doesn't seem to handle these things with a lot of grace and dignity.

And just to add to that I think when the game starts these"men" are thinking about their assignment and the guy across the line from them not where the 'hat" will be living next fall.
Now as to how much good prep the exiting coach puts in?????
