Look, I understand OM, the barn and every other team putting a target on our back. We've been on top of college football since Coach Saban arrived and that's what they all would like to be. The thing is that you will never out work or out recruit CNS. He is also the best judge of talent in football IMO so a lot of these CHF types just wait to see who we offer and follow suit. He also made the statement last year that OM "owns" the state of Alabama after beating us and the barn.So I guess we have to let him have his 15 minutes of fame. Freeze knows his days are numbered and he will be processed.

I guess we'll just have to make do with owning all of college football.

I'm going to be a contrarian here but I cut my own path so let's get it out of the way.

This kind of discussion is what makes me sicker than anything else in college football. It's the easiest thing in the world and everyone plays it - if a team beats you, just simply say they're paying players. Want to keep the sinister story going? Just point out 'Hey, the NCAA is knocking." Many of these same folks took the persecution mentality when the NCAA took up residence in T-Town some fifteen years ago.

I'm going to reiterate what I've said before - dollar bills do not make passes and tackles. Dollar bills do not throw blocks for running backs or on interception returns. This whole 'well, you only beat us because you're cheating' is the kind of thing that really ruins rivalries and friendly banter. I had no tolerance when they accusations were made towards us and I won't be a part of it without evidence towards anyone else. I DO think.....heck, WE ALL KNOW Cam Newton's Daddy was paid off but guess what? If we had taken care of business in the Iron Bowl, it wouldn't have mattered, ok? The dollar bills didn't turn Cam Newton into a superstar in the second half after a middling first half.

(And if anyone says, "But Mark Barron was injured," I have five words for you: "If Colt hadn't got hurt").

That being said......this is kind of a ridiculous story. Sure, Freeze has won the last two years. That's great. On the other hand, he's also lost to Memphis and in the last two years his defense has given up 82 points to Arkansas and they're 0-2. The mere existence of such a story is proof that Alabama is in their heads. Nothing wrong with aiming to be like us - certainly nothing wrong with aiming to BEAT us.

But getting to the top is incredibly hard; STAYING on top is a hundred times harder. And since 2009, Alabama has as many NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS as Ole Miss has WINNING SEASONS.

And let's be honest.......go back and look at the box scores. For all the hub-bub, we've outgained them yardage wise in both games, they've failed to crack 100 yards rushing both times........their victories are completely and solely due to the fact we've had 7 turnovers and they've had one.

Even Alabama isn't good enough to overcome that deficit against a decent SEC foe.

Ole Miss has become one of my most disliked SEC teams, because of their fans' arrogance without achievement.

I agree totally with selmaborntidefan . Since we recruit the best, we should be the best, and by being the best, we should expect to win most if not all the games we play. Shucks, even the best team loses sometimes.

I agree totally with selmaborntidefan .
I also agree with selma, but not totally. It is important to note that the surge in Ole Miss recruiting "prowess" predated their win 2 seasons ago, as did the national suspicion about exactly how they were reeling in so many high level recruits at the 11th hour - recruits who had not listed any interest in Ole Miss until they suddenly committed. Suspicions surrounding Ole Miss recruiting have nothing to do with their 2 wins on the field - they stem from the nature of their wins off the field.

That said, I hate the NCAA far more than any college football program.

Very well said, Bill and totally agree. We complain about other teams making excuses when we win, but when we lose there are a large number of folks on here who use the same excuses. I guess it is just too difficult to say we lost, regardless of what the circumstances of the game, the loss has to be somehow qualified.

I'm trying to figure out how anyone can explain "how to beat Nick Saban in recruiting" since no one has actually done that going on what, 6, 7 years now?

I'll just go ahead and say it. You beat Nick Saban in recruiting when Nick Saban retires, or gets to the point where it's obvious he's slowing down. That can happen in an instant, I know, but it hasn't happened yet.

Alabama fans, Auburn fans, Arkansas fans, B1G fans, LSU fans, and fans of every other SEC team started claiming Ole Miss was up to something around March 2013. So fans aren't using the "they gotta be cheatin' because they beat us" excuse.

But if some of you want to believe that, go right ahead...

The net impact of this scenario is Hugh Freeze's recruiting impact hasn't really impacted us on the field. It really hasn't. We've won a nation title, two SEC titles and made it to the first round of the playoffs the past two years with them beating us. So what's the real material impact? Yes, Ole Miss has won the last two and is a significantly better team year in and year out than before Freeze. But in my opinion much of their recent success against us has been due to issues on our end more than it has been what they've done. But regardless of that. Ole Miss has seemingly been able to get drastically better athletes the last few years. Several have been top prospects for Alabama who Nick Saban and staff coveted. So regardless of the reasons they've gotten the best of us on the field the last two years doesn't do away with the question of "How in the world does Ole Miss go from marginal recruiting classes to top ten classes year and year out?" That is still a legitimate question. Miss St hasn't been able to do it and they've dumped a ton of money into their coaching staff and on campus facilities. Yet they haven't sniffed the recruiting success Ole Miss has suddenly found.

I think Ole Miss fans have overtaken AU and LSU fans as the most delusional in the SEC. Yes, Ole Miss beat Alabama 2 years in a row (wow, feels awkward just typing that). However, in those 2 years Alabama won 2 SEC championships and a national championship. If you only heard the Ole Miss side of the story you would think it was the other way around..
We don't turn the ball over 5 times in that game and 1 fluke play and it wouldn't have been 2 years inna row.

My opinion and what I had to say about Ole Miss certainly didn't come from their beating Alabama on the field. I certainly was one of the ones crying foul prior to their beating Alabama and I'd feel the same about what's going on their either way.

I agree you shouldn't call a team a cheater just because they beat your favorite team, but I also argue that you have to be able to point out the obvious.

Completely ignoring the two losses to them the past two years. The big question still remains. How has Ole Miss been able to go from marginal recruiting classes to top ten and even top five recruiting classes so fast? Especially seeing their twin (Miss St) has made extraordinary monetary efforts in their facilities and coaching staff to do the same and they still can't bring in that type talent. Regardless of the Alabama wins over the last two years. It doesn't remove the question.

I'm not even sure how this thread drifted into OM beating Alabama - the thread's about their recruiting, and it's pretty obvious too even casual observers how they went from nothing to where they are in recruiting - before they ever won any games at all.

And even then, OM isn't beating CNS - maybe here or there, but Bama still out recruits OM every year.

HF and Co can keep buying players - whatever - until they actually win something it doesn't matter...
