I'm up in Cumming, GA, and it's supposed to roll over us around 2am - 3am with winds appx 100mph.
25 dead, millions without power, and it ain't over yet. Tennessee will be dealing with massive flooding this weekend.

Posting this while I can, internet service still sucks. Haven’t been able to post all day what I tried never went through. I think too many people were online and it clogged up the system. We had people sitting in the parking lot next to our house, using their cell phones.
Whatever you hear from the media is not 100% accurate.  Approximately 30 people have died and 600 missing since the hurricane. There are a few shelters set up across the county, I think three, but as of yet there are still no water distribution centers set up. The small town of Swannanoa has been hit very hard, the grocery store is gone and more important the grocery store distribution center, not only flooded but burned down. It was the main grocery store chain and distribution center in this area.  Apparently the extra water for the city in case of emergencies was in Swannanoa. City officials have requested water and food from the governor‘s office, no timeline has been given.
There are more questions about when things are going to get here to help people than there are answers. Many first responders poured into the church across the street to set up tonight. I don’t know if they are firefighters, EMS, etc. Duke power sent out a text message today saying power may be restored by Friday night.
No timeline at all for water restoration. Citywide curfew remains in effect indefinitely 730 p.m. to 7:30 AM. Looting continues, and tempers are flaring, a grocery store manager was shot at last night for turning off the gas pumps so his employees would have gas to get to work. Praying tomorrow starts to look better.

They give each household a box of water and depending on your family size, food. MRE’s.
They also give you a box of water. I found out we can thank FEMA for the food and water. I don’t know how long they will be doing this. There are 4 distribution sites around the county. Thank you FEMA.

I have a relative in Boone. Finally heard from him late last night. He lives up on Beech Mountain. Cell service very sketchy and area around Boone and App State heavily damaged from flooding.
The pictures from Asheville are heartbreaking. I’ve spent a lot of time up there over past several years. Seeing things like the Biltmore underwater is mind boggling.

You’re correct. It was the Biltmore Village. My wife sent me the picture via text. I “read†it as Biltmore and not “Biltmore Villageâ€Â. Sorry for any confusion.... can't imagine the Biltmore itself being underwater. It sits at a pretty good elevation.

This was a crazy one. Was being predicted to go up the Bama Georgia border--which would have likely hammered us in Warner Robins--until right before landfall, when it took a sharp right. We got a fair amount of rain, but that was about it. My youngest is at Georgia Southern in Statesboro--their dorm was without power until late Friday; sections of the campus are still without power (they cancelled classes for the week), as are large sections of East Georgia. It wasn't just the strength of the storm--this thing was MASSIVE.
Headed out Sunday to help with clean up over in SC. Never know what we'll run into but will be there all week to do what we can. Going in as a chainsaw and tarp crew.
Just got back from a trade show in Sevierville for a small distribution company with a lot of customers in Appalachia. We see these people several times a year and talk to them several times a month. It’s pretty rough in those parts. One group couldn’t leave their store because of the damage. They’ve been cooking meals and helping the community as best they can. Solid people doing solid things when it’s necessary.
We head to Charlotte next week for a similar trade show. Going to be interesting with the port nonsense and the weather and everyone holding their breath.
