I am backing Shula

Well, it looks like half the board is mad at Shula, and the other half is mad at the first half for being mad at Shula.

Count me in the "other half that is mad at the first half for being mad at Shula". I wish the armchair quarterbacks and coaches would just shut up! By their reasoning, Brodie shouldn't have even played in the game at all, because there was never any doubt about who was going to win. Why not just have him ride the pine for the whole game?!

It was just an accident, and I don't want to be part of the half that just makes things harder for Shula.

Roll Tide!

People who know me know that I'm not a sunshine pumper, I don't drink the kool-aid, and I call it as I see it. This is not CMS's fault. Coaches routinely leave their starters in until the middle of the 3rd during a blow-out. 99.9% of coaches would have done the same.... except for some of the coaches on Tidefans.com, of course!

lessee...

Another irrelevant post. The fact is, there is no "backing" or "not backing" Shula's decision because, well, there was no decision that was made. He didn't think to himself, "hmmm, should I keep my qb in the game at the start of the 3rd qtr or should I bench him?" Get a grip people...everyone plays their starters at least into the 4th qtr in a blow out, let alone the beginning of the 3rd qtr.

All of these posts about Brodie being in the game are a waste of time on everyone's part and a waste of finger power. Please, spend your time doing something more productive than second guessing a coach in div-1A football that is faaaar more qualified than anyone else on this board.

In fact, this post really is a waste of time, because most of the anti-Shula posts that have been made are BS and are posted just to see how many people will actually respond to them.

I am behind Shula!!! I have never said I didn't support my coach or my team. But when you think the coaches made a bad call why not say so. Maybe Brodie would have blown his knee out at practice this week. Maybe it was going to happen no matter what. The point is, we were playing a 1-AA school. We were not going to gain valuable lessons against that kind of competition. That is why I call it a coaching mistake. I am a TidePride member. AcrimsonTradition member. I send my money to the University. I love the University of Alabama. Why schedule a high school team to begin with. I don't care about the sactions, I don't care about counting 1-AA school every 4 years as a 1-A win. Have you seen our home schedule for 2006. Folks, it is pitiful. Why do we want to back track on the level of competition. He may look good in the papers on Sunday, but what does our program gain!!!!!!!

What good does that do? Does it help the team do any better? Are you thinking "Hey, Mike Shula might need my advice on this." ?

What does "the program" gain from you complaining about it?

I totally Disagree

after all, if you have anything negative to say about anything related to the crimson tide you obviously want shula fired, kines beheaded, and the players run out of the state.

so, since i thought it was not the greatest idea for brodie to be in the game after the half, i'll just hope and pray that we lose every game by double digits...maybe even triple digits!

i'm so glad so many people here are so adept at weeding out those of us who are "real" bama fans, from those of us who basically spend a good part of our lives following and falsely "supporting" a team that we really, deep down inside, want to fall flat on its face.

now, onto the sporting goods store to buy my Tennessee and Auburn gear so i'll be properly decked out to root "for"...or is it "against"...heck maybe someone who knows what a "real" fan would call it can further enlighten me...when the team i falsely support plays over the next few weeks.

Roll War Eagle Tide Rocky Top!!!

The sad thing is, I'm not really sure if you're being sarcastic.

Go ahead and whine if you want. I don't care. Just keep it clean.

by the way, forgot to mention that i'm not "whining" about shula or the team. i'm venting about the "superfan" mentality of some folks on the site. i don't understand how anyone could read the post you quoted and see it as anything other than a poke at the folks who are constantly setting down the rules as to what a "real" fan is.

once again, the board becomes hyper-sensitive.

Bamerman, I am in total agreement with you. I knew the hounds would be out on Coach, but I back him 100%. It was a freak accident. The Tide will continue to roll.

I believe!!

ROLL TIDE!!

So you think Shula was not thinking if he said leave his QB in the game at the start of the 2nd half?
