I don't think I've ever felt as confident of the future in a loss as I did tonight.

On paper, we should have lost by at least two TD's like we did last year.

We were outmatched in several categories, and, yet, we still almost won. Heck we still had a chacne to tie at the end of the game. Had Brown been able to hang on, I'm convinced we would have scored and went to OT.

I'll take a loss with Coach Nick Saban over a win with Les Miles.

I am feeling we have reached the crossroads and have chosen a path that we wish to go in, ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Totally agree. Bama played their hearts out tonight. LSU is more tallented, but Saban showed that he can coach his butt off.

Usually I would be pouting and depressed after a loss. But the way that our team in not giving up and staying in these games where we have less depth and talent I am REALLY looking forward to the very near future of Alabama football. The difference is definitely in coaching. Hats off to the players and the coaches for getting them ready and making the adjustments.

Now lets go spank some Bulldogs!!!

i am definitely with you on that. Bama is playing so well. we had NO business losing by only 1 TD....we shoulda lost by more given the talent gap. lsu is a terrific team and will play for the BCS championship this year. but the way we played 'em, i am very optimistic about our team the rest of the year and on out. RTR!

yes, the future is bright, and i am proud to be a tide fan. i really believe losing two starting offensive linemen, and glen coffee was the difference on offense. the defense gave everything they had. i was looking at our starting lineup during the game, and it dawned on me. we really only had one experienced def lineman in gilberry, one experienced linebacker in prince hall, unless you consider knights light experience last year. and two quality experienced secondary players in castille and johnson. of course, jackson showed again his potential for the future. when coach gets his recruits in there will be big changes in depth.

IMO, it has been obvious since we hired Saban that our program is headed in the right direction. Our performance tonight just makes more people aware of it. I don't think that we left any doubt on the minds of our recruits that Alabama will be a SEC and national contender sooner rather than later.

This team will only take the next step when they show they can run the ball well between the tackles. That hasn't happened much at all this year. Any time the Tide is in a situation like say 3rd-and-3, the opposing defense has no fear of a running play. There is nobody on this team who is a really bruising runner and the run-blocking up front has been inconsistent at best. Bama racks up big running stats when the speed guys get to the edge and bust big plays. You always need that element but without the ability to get hard yards up the middle it's an incomplete offense which does not force opposing defenses to crowd the line. If this team is ever going to contend for an SEC title, that has to change.

Ditto that.

We won the kicking game, and won turnover margin.

We lost because we couldn't run.

A fullback sure looks like it would help with the running game.

LSU has more talent and depth than we do. They have quite a few players that will be playing in the NFL. On paper this game was a bit of a mis-match. If you look at the stats, you wouldn't think we would still be in the game at the end.

I'm very proud of the way our team played tonight. They fought hard and never gave up. CNS has this program headed in the right direction. The future is bright at Alabama, very bright.

Last night's loss hurt. It hurts even worse because we were so close to winning one we probably shouldn't have in to begin with. But, I think we saw a bright future. With talent and CNS' coaching in 2 years we will be aiming at the BCS Championship game.

Just for fun, I cruised Texags.com this morning, and saw the nightmare that could have been ours. You have to feel sorry for those guys. Plus, they are hilarious in their brutality toward "their" coach.

"ANNOUNCEMENT: Coach Fran Booster Club meeting postponed. The meeting this Tuesday night in a closet on the second floor of the Koldus Building at 7:00 p.m. has been postponed. Coach Fran is unavailable because he will be out "recruiting" at that time. The meeting will be held the following Tuesday, though the topic "How the overrated Chase Daniel cannot possibly pick apart the vaunted 4-2-5" is subject to change. The maroon koolaid which was already prepared for this Tuesday's meeting will be saved due to supplies being limited. See you on November 13th!"

Thank goodness they bought our problem, and ultimately opened the door for CNS.

There is no doubt we are improving as a football team each week. That's something we have missed over the past 4 years. As much as I hate to see Bama lose, I can't help but be excited about what the future holds while CNS is in charge. Once we get CNS talent, we are going to be VERY tough to deal with. I actually don't feel too bad about the LSU loss, because I had kind of chalked that up as an L prior to this season, simply because LSU has so much talent right now. I feel sorry for the players though because they played their guts out and the coaching staff had them prepared. Now, let's go kick Miss State's butt!

I hate loosing, but I'm not to upset about the loss. I hate we lost on that fumble, but stuff happens. I'm so proud of this team. I remember looking over to my friend next to me in student and saying, "I think we can win this in the 4th quarter." I haven't felt like that in a long time before this season. This coaching staff really does have these guys believing in themselves. My voice is completely shot. I hope I can get it back before Monday morning.

I feel that we have the best coaching staff that we've had since Coach Stallings.

Here is what Ivan Maisel said about the game:

The bad news is that, in a game LSU's fans desperately wanted to win to humiliate their former coach, the Crimson Tide's Nick Saban, Alabama looked like the better-coached team. Alabama stayed in a game it had no business being in.

The Chain of Evidence

Thanks for starting this thread, TiderinMiss. I thoroughly enjoyed the game last night, and I was extremely proud of the way our boys played. I hope the coaches told them to hold their heads up high after the game because they left it all out on the field. Good job, boys!!!
