Probably had something to do with his impending divorce as well. Must have been a "mystery woman" in T'town that Lance got caught with.
When Bama first hired Coach Saban, he went to work establishing relationships among communities and high school coaches in Alabama. The lions share of the extremely long hours he invested was in the Mobile area.Wait a second, Thompson went from being the greatest recruiter in the country last year in most of our minds to an evil, backstabbing no nothing recruiter?
He's good...lets face it. Tennessee made a great move in hiring him and it will turn up the heat for Alabama recruiting against him.
I don't agree with some of his tactics. Now he cost us Myles? We could only take some 20-22 kids anyway right? We have 27 commits. So did he really cost us Myles? Eventually, it became a numbers game for us.
Without Myles or Massie we still have a helluva class.
He wanted to get out of town because of a family matter and rocky slop afforded him that opportunity.Ok, Bayou. How many years before we hear "the rest of the story" behind Thompson leaving? I hate it when you do this!!
Roll Tide!!

That's an understatement. :wink:It wasn't just the money......................
Very few have faulted Lance Thompson for taking the big money and leaving Bama (although his wife wanting him away from xxx xxxxxxxx was a bigger reason), it is what he has said and one SINCE he left Bama. HE was one of the coaches he laughed about Utah beating and he thought the Bama recruits were his "kids".The Kiffin's dangled a great deal of money in front of him and I doubt thatthere are very many who would have turned that down. Recruiting is not a game for kiddies and UT did themselves pretty well considering the time in which they had to build a recruiting class.
Many have decried the tactics and not knowing the details, I can only say that kids and parents will catch on pretty quick.
But I have to ask, do you think that CNS used CJW's knowledge, contacts, and information to our advantage once we brought him on staff?
