I think my son is a closet au fan!!

It's been a while since I studied genetics, but I believe I have the answer. Your family tree has a Barney or two in it, creating an undesirable recessive trait that will surface every few generations. I recommend you ship your son off to the farthest flung monestary and never speak of him again. As for yourself, I recommend castration so that this abomination is ended once and for all. You can't take chances.

LMBO.:biggrin2:

Had mine singing it at 3, honestly. His mother is an AU alum, twirled flag there for 4 years, an AU fan, but she taught my son the UA fightsong.

I used to sing my 3 kids fight song when they were babies and my son and his friend sang Yea Alabama in his third grade talent show.

My youngest just started kindergarten last week and they are learning to recognize color words and every time I point to orange she says "the ugly color" we can't get her to say orange.

You gotta start em young!

I still dress him in Bama clothes, his room is painted crimson and white, and his dog is named Bear. I mean what else can I do?
Sounds like a serious discussion on what it means to be in line for part of the "family inheritance" should be included in your list somewhere. ;)

I'm thinking of setting him in front of the tv and have him watch all of Bama's greatest games until he comes to his senses. NO MATTER what happens I will NEVER buy him any au stuff and if he trys to buy it with his allowance well he will no longer have an allowance. There WILL BE NO au STUFF UNDER MY ROOF!!!Please pray for my son!

Oh no, no, no. Find someone who has Awbun highlights (all six of them) and play them over and over. He will see the light. It will work. :biggrin2: ;)

I have no words of wisdom. I have my daughter knowing no orange is allowed in the house. She was 18 months when she realized it was not a good color.

I have to share this though...

When we came to Memphis my daughter was put in a day care. They were studying animals and animal sounds. They said, "What does a dog say?" "What does a cat say?" They asked all the kids, "What does an elephant say?" No kid said anything. My daughter looked up and said, "I know! Roll Tide!!" When I went to pick her up they asked me if I was a Bama fan and told me the story.

I beamed with pride!

Roll Tide!!

I can beat your tear-jerker by a mile.

I am a construction project manager, and most of my colleagues in Alabama went to the Barn. Well, as a result I've been the recipient of tons of free Auburn tickets for as long as I can remember (yes, they give Auburn tickets away). I've actually been to many more Auburn games than Bama games over the years (but I never stop secretly rooting for the other team!)

Anyway, I made the mistake of taking my two older children to several Auburn games when they were very young, and just like letting Junior play "dress-up" sometimes turns him into a florist - you guessed it - they're now Auburn fans!

On one occasion, I took along a friend of my son's, too. His dad is a Tennessee fan and his mom, God bless her, pulls for the Tide. Anyway, that was years ago and I'd forgotten about it. I saw him recently at a scout function and he had on an AU cap. I said, "Jonathon, your dad's a Vol and your mom's a Tide fan. With those two great teams and all their tradition and winning ways, why in the world did you start pulling for Auburn?" His parents, fixed me with withering stares and said, "YOU DID IT WHEN YOU TOOK HIM TO THAT STUPID AUBURN GAME!"

My question to the Southern Baptist minister on this board is, have I committed the unpardonable sin?

Do like the NFL does an invite a player from bama to go to your sons school.
That should change your son's friends minds.... and if they say "war eagle" just let the player walk up to them.... HAHA.

Its time to EXERCISE THE DEMONS!!!!

Fortunately, I serve a very gracious God! No, letting it go on would be unpardonable!;) You must dedicate yourself to retraining your progeny. It could mean many hours of past game footage, a visit to Bear's museum and countless dollars spent on bama memorabillia. When in doubt, always turn to the Word...

Bfanlc, I share your pain. This weekend I caught my 4 year old granddaughter eating boogers. I can't Bear the thought that a relative of mine would become a barner. We live in the Atlanta area and there are numerous bad influences in our neighborhood. I see booger eater stickers on cars every day. What can a grandfather do to turn 'em towards the light?

Eating boogers? and Being an Auburn fan? That may be the best comparison I've ever heard.......

My sister-in-law told me she cried when she found out I got Alabama season tickets. She said she fears her future children (she's not even pregnant) will become Bama fans because I can take them to games and convert them.

I just looked at her and said, "Yeah, that's pretty much my plan."

Here's my pain: I've lived in little orange country for 11 yrs. My wife, her family are vol fans, although my wife does now wear many of Bama shirts, she loves the colors. All of my children have been born here and my oldest now says he's a vols fan. I only carry him to Bama/vol games, although I can only afford to carry him to basketball and baseball games, we have won every time, and it only makes him mad to see daddy so happy. I am glad to say my 2 yr old loves elephants and every time he points at one I say Roll Tide Roll. There is still hope for him and my newborn daughter.

I've read about support groups for people with children "in the closet". It's not a mortal sin to have a child "in the closet". Statistics show that 5 to 10% of the population of our state are barner afflicted.

I would immediately seek the support of other parents who have children with a similar persuasion.
