we should not know about it if things are done correctly and behind closed doors. The next thing we should hear is the announcement of the press conference time announcing the new HC.

However, I would assume the Saban details would be leaked days later.

I think it will leak out all over the place if he is offered but it will not be Bama's fault.

Yeah, I might be a tad pessimistic but I think he'll mull over the deal and decide to stay in the NFL.

why do yall think he will say no - Bama has to know he is REAL interested in the job and know the details of what it'd take so.......I doubt he will take the job but
logic & experience says: when you offer a coach a job you already know if he is going to take it or not - it's like asking permission to talk to a coach it's has already been worked out. Too much fire (nto from Bama) for it not to be close to fruition

The Rich Rod situation was a fluke - I bet you can't name another situation somewhere an official offer was made & turned down

Lots of jobs have been turned down or said no interest but not after an offcial offer has been made.

refresh my memory

4th quarter of the colts/Fins game and they said they asked Coach Saban about the Bama Job last nite....Coach said "Hey fellas I have a game tomorrow and I'd like to focus on the game, I wish I wouldn't get asked about that". quote from Phil Simms.

I hope Petrino is not asked. He seems shady after the whole barn situation. I know that most are shady but he seems to be more than others.

All i know is we better have the "B" guy ready to go if Saban doesnt come. We cant afford another 2-3 weeks of this.
This is pure speculation on my part, but I think if Saban does decline our offer the ball will start to roll quickly from our AD. I think they have contingencies ready to execute. Who these backups are...I don't know, but with 3+ weeks to plan this thing out you'd imagine Mal's gang has their p's and q's together.

I've never thought Saban would say yes. I'm not sure I want him anyway. It may sound corny, but we need a coach that wants to be here. We've already tried the Rent-a-Coach approach with fRan and Price with horrid results, only to follow it up with a guy who wanted to be here, but couldn't coach a lick. We need a guy who will look at all that BAMA has to offer other than $$$$ and will make a commitment beyond the next offer his agent can drum up. And we need to find that guy THIS TIME.:BigA: :BigA: :BigA:

There is an old saying in the legal system that a lawyer should never ask a witness a question that he/she doesn't already know the answer to. If MM makes a formal offer to NS he BETTER know for sure that NS is going to accept. He screwed that up with RR.

TommyMac, Saban's got enough money as it is, and a good paying job too. If he signs with Bama, it won't be just for the bucks. There are very few college schools that would get his serious attention. I think we've got his respect if not his love, - I don't think we'll find another guy now who has that deep affection for the University us oldtimers are used to.

I understand exactly what you are saying, but it's not a perfect world - and we have to make do with the way things really are.
