Wesley (Britt) (leg), David (Cavan) (knee) and obviously A.C. (Carter) (leg)should be back for August work. AC is still a question but CJ has said he is doing what he needs to do to be ready.

Brodie Croyle is good to go and is now building strength and weight...target of 210lbs. He considers Brodie to be 100% ready injury wise.

Spencer Pennington is in rehabs from off-season shoulder surgeries. He won't be ready to mainstream for a while and still needs to do more specialized rehab work.

Greg McLain (elbow) and Dominic Lee (ankle) are further behind. Greg is interim and working out and progressing.

Lee, the D-man, was not at interim working out but reports next week and will be evaluated at that time.

All in all we should be in good shape for the start of August drills.

One point of interest was Brodie started with CJ at 185 and has bulked up to 198lbs. CJ said he had the same problem with Hasselbeck in Seattle and the added weight/strength allowed him to take hits without getting nicked up.

Coach speak.

I can't blame CKJ for stating some encouraging words, IE: AC, but it'll be a minor miracle for AC to see the field this fall. He still has a pronounced limp when he walks, much less runs.

I'm hearing there are a few more players that will not be seeing action (as in the doctors haven't cleared them yet). Thankfully, Britt, Cavan, Croyle, Pennington and Lee aren't on that list.

Personally, I worry a lot about McClain. One more concussion, and as one coach put it, his brain might resemble "scrambled eggs."

Are you talking about Leron or Greg?

I thought it was Greg who had several concussions dating back to Fran's tenure. I do remember he has been wearing the new special helmet designed to help reduce concussions.

When did LeRon have a concussion? I know he didn't play a lot last year, but it was his freshan year.

I talked to Randall Scott about Coach Johnson and he gave nothing but glowing remarks about him. Randy knows him personally, I believe from when Randy played at Green Bay, and feels that he will do us proud.

would this be the same Randy Scott who played linebacker at Bama in the late '70's?

The same Randy Scott who teamed up with Thomas Boyd to be probably the least appreciated LB duo ever at BAMA?

You guys will have to forgive me. I continually get LeRon and Greg confused.

LeRon- qualifying issues.
Greg- quantifying issues.

Greg is having some problems with his elbow also. I've worried since the problems early on that he might not be able to complete his 4 years in Div. 1 play. Unfortunately...

Hey, I'm not a superstitous person...but I have my fingers crossed.

Looks like he is ready to go...but a blow to the head will still be an issue.

TerryP...it was your first mistake!
