Iowa reports violation about contacting Proctor

It's already been all over the news. How the heck do they get credit for 'self-reporting' this? This is low hanging fruit for the NCAA...just declare him ineligible for the 2024 season. It'll take some forceful actions to get this stuff under control. Perhaps sanctions for the offenders and restitution paid to the affected schools? Iowa and Proctor handed the NCAA a gift...they should take it and make the most of it.

Tampering is either a thing or it isnt. If it isnt a thing, then wrist-slaps and $5k fines are just part of the cost of doing business. If it is a thing, then bowl bans might be even more effective than $1m fines.

Yes, breaking the rules should have consequences. If they don't, they may as well take the rule off of the books. I would think for a first offense that a three game suspension for the head coach and for the player would at least send a little bit of a message.

Their story is they were just checking in on him to make sure he was okay.

I'm sure it was all purely an innocent situation with no intention to sway him back to the Cornhole.

Can bet every team`s staffs are watching to see what happens to Iowa in this deal. I sure hope that Alabama is!! Nothing or inconsequential penalties, I sure hope that we`re keeping in contact with kids " just to make sure that they`re OK ". What an absolute joke!
